I witnessed the saddest shit this morning that broke me to my core while traveling for work in Wisconsin.  I was eating breakfast and this guy starts chatting me up talking about standard things like how life is hard and that neither political party cares about us.  All were solid points and then he went off the rails...  He starting talking about how Biden caused all this and Trump is fixing the country trying to take care of the little guy.  He talked about not voting anymore since the 2020 election was stolen... I guess 2024 didn't happen?  He also threw a tidbit about how Trump is not starting any new wars.  Hello Venezuela...??? 

I sat in utter silence, nodding, and throwing the occasional, "that's crazy bro" because I didn't know what the guy would have done if I told him the truth about what I really thought about him.  We all probably live in our bubbles, but some of us are more informed than others.  I couldn't help but to feel absolutely sorry for this guy.  It's messed up but how will this country recover once this MAGA movement ends?  Are we going to be able to?  I know it's easy to resort to nihilism, but I need some people with a half-full perspective to provide some insight right now.

You will never go back to what you were before Trump internationally speaking - your relationship with all your “friends” in the world has been ruined - you as a country forgot all those that stood behind you when you needed - like Canada helping you out (by hosting some of your citizens and sending help) - no questions asked after 9/11 etc. when you become a liability to your allies - then you become irrelevant ! But yeah I would think you could at least work as a country internally like you did before - in a generation or two - Europe was more divided after WW2 than you are now - and we have made it work - so there is light at the end of the tunnel of course none of us knows where Trump will take this in 3 more years - there are still a lot of dark places this could go

Also there are surveys that says 40% of your female youth population want to relocate permanently ! Europe already has a lot of citizens (compared to our size) so we will probably only accept the best of the best of those - but if we started accepted them all and just 15-20% of those took us up on the offer (because let’s be real the majority of those want to move here to Europe) - then your country will be doomed within a generation or two - you can’t survive that as a country - your birth rates and working age population numbers are bad enough as they are
