Trump proposed 50 years mortgage is not a solution to lack of affordable housing. Instead of building equity, homeowners would be trapped in debt longer. Madness for them to work into their 80s or 90s to pay off a home. Besides, subsidizing demand without increasing supply could increase prices. So savings from long mortgage could be negated by higher prices. Better to lower interest rate, offer down payment assistance and encourage building of affordable housing.
In 2019 there came a global pandemic - with a virus we had never seen before (so at the time no one knew if it was to last a couple of years or wipe out the entire planet) - inflation due to that is of course different from a man made inflation - and “inflation” isn’t bad per say - why do you think your target is 2% and not 0? - The reason this kind of inflation is bad - is because it is due to a supply shock - not because it is 3% - 3% would be fine under normal circumstances
If you wonder why Trump is so keen on lowering it even further it is because all your “benefit” payments (every payment you receive from the government) + most of your 401k is bound to the interest or inflation rate (don’t know which one - because that differs between countries - but 100% one of them) - so if they lower that they don’t have to pay you as much money - believe me with these policies they couldn’t care less what you are paying for your stuff
And that is also the reason you should care even more they release those economic numbers and don’t tamper with them - because if you as country don’t get the correct numbers it will 100% screw over the payments you receive - but won’t effect the prices you pay - so him lying in this part of your society can actually have pretty severe consequences for you all

Removing tariffs now will have close to no effect on food prices - the big food stores don’t adjust prices like that - it wasn’t because Trump told them to eat the tariffs that they did - it is how their business models operate - if tariffs are removed they will just get a higher profit margin until real “inflation” catches up (but of course he should still remove them as they do nothing good for you)
Trump policies increase housing costs. National association of home builders warn that tariffs on building materials add thousands of dollars to price of new home. Mass deportation worsens labor shortage in construction industry where many workers are immigrants. 50 years mortgage proposal increases total interest cost. Lack of affordable housing remains a problem without more supply.
But the whole premise is wrong - you don’t want lower prices even though you think you do - prices as a whole are supposed to rise (what Trump is doing that is wrong is the REASON for its surge) - if prices don’t rise it is because you are in a recession - so he might aswell have promised you a recession during his speeches - btw the problems you face with tariffs are miniscule compared to what you face when the AI bubble pops what that will do to your market - you guys should not talk about anything but how you get AI to take off - so much of your economy is bound to its success - and it is hard to see how that investment is ever going to pay off - when you see how shitty AI in its current form is - and how much energy it consumes
And instead of maybe accepting facts that you might have made the worst investment in your history (at least since you have no plans of using renewable energy sources) rather than taking the reasonable approach and cut your losses short regarding AI - they keep doubling down on its success !! That should be what keeps you up at night if you have children you want to have a future
