You pulled your back out with how far you are reaching. I can only speak for myself as a POC but I would never in a million years feel welcomed in today's Republican party. I know it's hard for Republicans to admit but it's really a party for white folks. If they would admit it, that would go a long way than the continuous disingenuous behavior they continue to tout. On the other hand, democrats do take advantage of the void left by Republicans non inclusion by trying their best to include POC. Both parties are bad and don't give a flying leap about average folks but one party does a better job hiding it. Being an independent is the way to go, you can vote for whomever you want and not be a " on " traitor.

What was crazy was the position he ran for wasn't that political of a position, it was just for the county auditor. I didn't really know about the racism bit until I got older as he explained why he switch parties. I don't know if things have changed in my hometown, I barely visit these days only to see him since he's the only one still living there. Getting a degree and a fancy job doesn't make people forget you are black for the most part, they just wonder how you got there.
