Futures in NBA...ive seen enough to lock in the following lotto scratch and sniff cards:
Pistons to win their division +650
Raptors to win their division +375
Heat to win their division +500
Detroit looks like a totally different team so far..Andre Drummond is a man possessed this year to become the leagues best big man...the guy is unstoppable on the glass...Milwaukee has trouble scoring and is a very young and inconsistent team, and we all know Cleveland will coast thru the season and preserve their old man legs for the springtime.
Raps may be a home team bias pick, but take that away from the equation, you cannot deny what they are currently doing on the court...a ton of roster changeover recently and their bench is so athletic, young, deep, and fast, that they all could have their own team and beat the Sacremento and Atlanta and the Chicagos of this league...Coach Casey should be considered a top 5 coach if he continues this pinball wizardry as hes got this team playing both solid d and explosive o....if they avoid a key injury, they will be neck and neck with Boston...and if i can throw out a random trade rumor to get any traction, the Raps need to get rid of Valinciunas by the deadline...he doesnt fit on this team, never has, amd the emergence of Poetl and Nogeira are more than capable to fill in for JV...to get back in return for JV another key rebounder and defender would be this teams missing piece (hated seeing them not bring back PJ Tucker)...Boston is the feel good story this year so far, but i have to believe they will regress a bit come December/January and Toronto will be right there on their heels.
Miami is just hanging around, and this is more a fade on Washington...the odds are just too good here to pass up on a team like the Heat based on what their potential should be this year when all things are clicking.
Futures in college:
Villanova +2000
Xavier +4000
Cincinnati +5000
Nevada +10000 (funzie money)
Texas Tech +20000 (good karma money)
The peoples champ had a good week, so making these long term investments came as almost a freeroll...now we sit back and watch these seedlings and acorns develop into a beautiful garden come March and April.
Regarding MVP in NBA...lets just hand it to The Beard out there in Houston and move on with more interesting discussion topics...i for one am really happy we wont have to suffer endless nonsense chatter about Westbrook vs Harden like last year...that was such a nonstory that unfortunately got way too much hype during a relatively very boring regular season.
Morning lecture of Hoops Futures is now finished...the peoples professor thanks you for your few minutes of attention.
