Week #3 The Chickens Have Come Home To Roost

Season Record 3-3 

At long last the chickens came home to roost along the banks of the Allegheny River last Sunday. When a brain trust consists of clowns, then expect a circus.
Teflon Tomlin takes his wounded squad to Gillette Stadium Sunday which has been a house of horrors. Steelers haven’t won there since 2008 when Brady was out with injury.
Steelers can’t stop the run and they can’t run the ball either. The Patriots’ D is great against the run so from the git go, the Steeler offense will be one dimensional IMO. The Patriots’ D leads the league in sacks (9) and Rodgers has been sacked 7 times so far and he has been hurried and hit a lot. These Steeler oline lapses have led Rodgers to become skittish as he no longer trusts them to protect him.

The only Steeler weapon that the Pats have to worry about is Jalen Warren and I am certain he will get special treatment from the Vrabel defense. Metcalf and Freirmuth had the dropsies last week...the ball was hitting them in a bad place, in their hands and in stride. 

Gee, I wonder if the Patriots offensive coordinator (Josh McDaniel) knows how to beat a Tomlin defense? Edelman on his show months ago said that all he had to do to get 100 receiving yards against the Steelers was to find his way to the middle of the field. Sounds simple right? Look for it on Sunday.

Drake Maye is mobile and has a strong arm and is playing much better now. Running backs Stevenson and Henderson are a good one two punch that can gain yardage after contact.
The Steeler Dline is banged up with Harmon their #1 draft pick out with injury…the backup Loudermilk is out and Cam Heyward is no longer elite...Benton at nose tackle is being blown off the ball.

The ILBs and supposed run stoppers Queen and Wilson can’t get off their blocks and when they do, they arm tackle…
The Steelers are missing free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick who covered for the front 7 and their sucky corners for years...yes, the chickens are coming home to roost. TJ Watt is a non factor and hasn’t had a sack in 6 games going back to last year.

The only workout Watt gets now is from polishing his new Ferraris. Nowadays 41 million per year doesn’t buy much. From what I can gather, the betting public is on the Steelers and Clete Blakeman's crew will officiate...

A troll for Dallas money and they are getting it. After what has transpired in week 2, if you owned a sportsbook, would you feel comfortable with putting up this line? The books know from which side the betting public will pounce with such a number.

Why do you think the Steelers will 'get right' defensively??? Do you know how many injuries they have? They can't stop the run...

The only way they beat the Patriots is if it is a shootout. The Pats' secondary can be burned but only if Rodgers has time. I am betting he won't have time.

Your write up changed my wager from Pitt to NE…. I didn’t watch a play… but the stats tell ya everything…. A competent team would have won by 2-3 scores.   New England may have doubled them up in yardage.

I did watch the game, you didn't miss much but heartache. Few teams can recover from 4 fumbles and an interception. Two of those Patriot turnovers were inside the Steelers' end zone.

We don't live in a vacuum and sometimes my own picks are changed by the writeups of others. Of course it is YOUR money and while I sympathize, going forward, you must remain true to yourself:

It is my strong opinion that Tomlin is a mediocre head coach who wasted the playing careers of many talented players. If that strikes you as hate so be it. The results of this game have not changed my mind. Tomlin is a cheerleader with a set of headphones. 
If Tomlin eclipses the win total of Chuck Noll so be it, he will never outshine his accomplishments.

Noll took a loser franchise and in 5 years molded a 4 Superbowl winning dynasty. Noll actually coached up players and he hired strong assistants with daring moves like bringing in Bud Carson from Georgia Tech to teach them zone coverage and pressure defense.

 

Noll also encouraged signing Black players from lesser known colleges in the South and drafted players like Joe Greene, John Stallworth, and signed undrafted free agents like Donnie Shell etc. All in the hall of fame. 

Obviously you want to make it racial but I am not buying...cry me a river. Incompetence knows no color and I could list all of the many reasons that he will never lead the Steelers to post season glory going forward. These participation trophies for non losing seasons impress nobody except for race baiters who value virtue signaling over championships.

NE wins that game handily if they learn how to take care of the football.   You analyzed the game perfectly.   The TO battle did you in this time ,  unfortunately.  

  Absurd comparison... You are blinded by lack of knowledge of coaching and Steeler football and a stat card carrier.. Tomlin was given a stacked playoff caliber team rich with talent and a long playoff history resume.. Chuck Noll took over a team which was horrid.. No QB...no talent.. That had only been in ONE that's right ONE playoff game in THIRTY ONE YEARS.. A 20 point loss.. Noll went 1-13 first year with that talent then drafted Terry Bradshaw.. Then took 3 more losing years drafting more great players to build a dynasty.. Tomlin built nothing.. NO BEN .. NO TOMLIN.. Tomlin losing playoff record ...Noll winning play off record..  No comparison between these two coaches besides the useless numbers you used... Tomlin was given a Mercedes turned it into a loaded Malibu.. Knoll was given a Pinto turned it into a Rolls Royce..Its laughable to even put Mike Tomlin in the same sentence of Chuck Noll... Tomlin rode Ben and preceded to turn this team into a middle of the road below average team with no original plays or jazz... Better then Cowher ... maybe... just maybe.. better then Chuck.......  Tomlin horrid clock management.. Tomlin horrid in game changes.. Tomlin challenges.. horrid...  NO BEN ...NO TOMLIN..  I don’t recall making a comparison I simply brought up a fact. Why would you write that novel I only brought up a coaching record. Not sure why Tomlin moving ahead of Noll would make you crash out like that.
