I live in Charleston.  Its a great city, but flying in and out can be expensive and a big hassle b/c of the lack of direct flights.  You can always try flying into Myrtle Beach, but you still have to drive at least two hours to get to Charleston. 

What brings you to Charleston?  Wedding, beach, golf?

I saw myrtle is around 240 for flights...but like you said it is about a 2 hr drive...is that route 17 all highway? I could probably bang it out in less time

17 is all highway, but its not like 95.  There are a few stoplights along the way, and the speed limit is 60mph at the most.  Also, driving through Myrtle Beach is an absolute nightmare.  Its stoplight after stoplight for like 20 miles.  Myrtle Beach to Seabrook will take you about 3 hours because Seabrook/Kiawah is still another 45-50 mins from downtown Charleston.  But its a great spot vacation.

I ended up booking the flight to Myrtle and im going to rent a car. I was going to rent a car anyways...instead of 700 after taxes and fees, it came to 457 by flying to myrtle instead of charleston (for 2 of course). Figured Id go with that. Im just sick of getting robbed by airlines. 484 to go to Vegas in June...crock of shit

Where are you travelling from in NYC?  you know you can take the train to newark now from penn station for like 10 bucks, right?  it's actually the easiest airport to get to from Manhattan if you ask me.  Second would be JFK, with the E train to the Air Tran for a total of $7.  worst airport to get to from NYC is LGA, with no train service.  you're stuck with a shitty cab for $30+ or a $15 shuttlebus ride or that terrible M60 bus that takes forever.
