Hawaii +22 against Boise?

    Yes we will see this weekend and right now the strongest play for me in that game will be Hawaii under their team total, whatever it is. Everyone keeps saying that they play no teams, but every time they have to face a decent team they take care of business.  Remember the seniors and juniors on this team are the same ones that beat, some very good teams in previous bowl games.  This year V Tech and Ore St don't qualify as cupcakes either.  BOL

I'll have to take Boise St. in this spot. Boise St. will score as many style points as possible here. While Hawaii is a team that is improving as the season goes along, they are still a long way from making this game anywhere on 30 points.....Boise by 35+

I like it when people assume that they can just walk by every team on command. Sure Boise wants to put on a show and shutout Hawaii, are they capable, I don't think so.

Boise looked like crap against Louisiana Tech...Tech had the ball three times within the ten yard line and didnt get any points cuz they lost the ball on downs and they still ended up covering....

Well, It was the 2nd game on the road on a very long road trip.
Hawaii traveled to Army and stayed on the road till the Colorado game. Hawaii was leading 10-0 at the half. Should of scored more. They got tired and the high attitude got to them. Thats why they fell apart in the 2nd half.

Most intelligent post on this thread by far.  LA Tech played with a fury in the 2nd half and blew some scoring opportunities.  Not saying LA Tech wins the game, but makes it closer than 29. 

The game time for this match up stuck out to me. 1:30 PM MDT local start which translates ito 9:30 AM HST.  What are Hawaii's travel plans to get acclimated to the time change?

Since you're a local, any clue on the team's travel plans?

Traveling on Thur which gives them a day and a half to get used to the time change.

If Army wouldn't have fumbled late in the 4th Q, they would have beat Hawaii......not sure that I can trust a team that should have lost to Army, even on the road....

Not saying this is a lock, but certainly not as easy of a cover for Hawaii as everyone thinks...

Line is pretty solid imo....btw, LVSC sent out 27 here....chew on that!!

It is not so much the time change but the weather which will affect Hawaii, remember they are a passing team.  A wet ball may influence the game.  Also Hawaii traditionally never plays well on the road.  Ask June Jones who went to Boise with Colt Brennan and Timmy Chang and still lost.  Everyone here loves Hawaii's chances including my family members and when I saw the line I thought it was so disrespectful for the Hawaii team.  But in truth Boise needs to win big for their BCS chances and with the weather and travel I think the oddsmakers have a point.  To me the Boise team has better runners, wide-receivers, quarterback, defense, coaching.  Our players are good, theirs are better.  See what they did to us last year in Hawaii.  It is the same team but it is in Boise.  They also have a tight end, we don't.  Boise or no play for me. 

a)  Hawaii is a much different team on the mainland, and

b)  the biggest factor of all . . . altitude.

 

Army on the road is a tougher road game than any Boise will play all season.

I think Hawaii +22 is a pretty solid play, but I don't think they have much of a chance of pulling off the upset.  I won't say no chance, but not enough of one to make a ML play.

Several other posters have made great points about why this will be an extremely uphill battle for Hawaii to win straight up.  Hawaii traditionally does not play well on the mainland; the travel; the weather; the game time; the time zone difference; the altitude.

I do have to laugh at the posters who want sell others on Boise's great defense.  LOL!!!  If Hawaii covers this game, it'll be because of Boise's mediocre defense allows Hawaii's offense to keep them in the game.

Wow, haven't been to this site for quite some years now but happy to be back.

Lets see if I can hit anywhere near my own picks last week which came out to 10-3. 

Gotta say being from Hawaii and all the news about the UH team, I'm gonna have to go with UH to cover this spread.  Why?

1.   This is a potent UH offense.  I don't think they'll win but I said to myself that if Boise St. is giving them anymore than 14 then I HAVE to go with UH. 
2.  UH used to be a BAD road team but look at them this year.  They beat a usually very hard home Fresno team with NO problems.  Don't forget Utah St. & Army.
3. UH pretty much scored the same as Boise St. against La Tech both teams being at home so that gives you some indication that this could be a really interesting game.
4. UH wants to send both Fresno and Boise St a big F.U. for wanting to leave the WAC because they think they're both too good for teams like UH which could bust dreams for such teams in the BCS rankings so they'll run away instead and not give UH that chance. 
6. Who has the better record ATS?  UH 8-1, Boise 5-2. 
7. I love the fact that UH won't give up till the clock hits 00:00 which means that even if Boise St. leads most of the game, this could EASILY be a backdoor cover as Boise St. will eventually let up no matter what like they did against La Tech. 
8. Boise St. will likely want to run the ball more since Hawaii doesn't have as great a run defense so that will contribute to a lower scoring game for them as I don't think they'll like to give UH time to throw the ball down the field and possibly score on them. 

So UH all the way, no doubt in my mind.  This one will be a fun one to watch.
