Exactly.  Did you see the 3 TD passes that Tebow had in the FSU game?  They were all lame ducks to a WIDE OPEN receiver.  Looked like kids playing a pick-up game.  You can credit Tebow's ability to run for making those receivers open like that, but you can't credit his ability as a QB for making those throws.

cyearian was spot-on earlier when he said "He is the only Tight End in the NCAA trying to play QB."

Last year Tebow Threw for 32 TD and ran for 23, the first QB in college history to have a 20-20+ year.
 
His QB rating doesn't even include Rushing stats
 
This year with the emegance of Demps and Rainey, harvin and Moody he still has 37 TD
 
He has more rushing TD than the great future hall of famer Emmit Smith had as a gator.
 
Bibendi I know you are a Hokie, but how many TD did Vick and White have
 
I have seen every down Tebow has played includin his freshman spring game when he beat Leak and the first team by 3 TD
 
Yes I am a homer but wait and see what he does against a great Bama defense. When you see the #4 team in the BCS as a 10 point favored over the #1 undefeated team in the country, on a neutral field,that is all you have to know
 
Bi I greatly respect your handicapping ability but wait until you see tebow in the biggest game of his career. You have seen m Vick and White, just watch tebow in a really big game for all the marbles

I'm not in any way discrediting Tebow jordyn. I think he is a great quarterback who has weapons that other qb's dream of. If you put him on any other team in the country he would be less effective. He runs Meyer's system very well and gets the job done for Florida. But in order to be the best QB youve ever seen he would have to be able to get the job done in multiple systems. Put him in Oklahoma or Texas's offense and he wouldnt even be the starter Tebow may light my money on fire but it still doesnt mean hes the best college QB ive ever seen

In 2006 Meyer changed his spread option in mid year to play to the strengths of Chris Leak. I still contend that Tebow would of been a much better fit for the spread option, but Meyer stuck with Leak and won the Natl Championship, with tebow used mostly in goal line situations.Tebow in 33 passing attemps had a 201 QB rating that was higher than colt Brennan
 
Alex Smith has been a bust and so has vince Young and Michael vick didn't win many games with the Falcons.I will be the first to admit that Tebow may have trouble in the pros( He has only taken 17 snaps under center in 3 years and only thrown once) I am glad that Tebow is only projected to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick, as he will probably play his senior year.
 
They had a show last Saturday with the greatest QB in college history that included Staubach, Flutie, montana and Steve Young and they included tebow in with them
 
Sam Bradford will probably win the Heisman this year and may make a better pro than Tebow, but I am talking strickly college.This weekend will decide who plays in the BCS Championship and who wins the Heisman. I will go with Okla and Florida

I hear you jordyn. You have to understand how outrageous that sounds to anyone who isnt a diehard Gator fan though. I love your passion and you obviously have a great team, just think youre running into a bad situation this week

Agreed!! Bradford, probably the best QB in college.. He's NFL potential, I say.. but anways
 
FL has covered alot of games for me during the season, but I have to admit that Bama might cover this one! Close game the better

come on now, and i noticed you said vick, did you see what vick did in VT. that guy flat out won. tebow isn't near what vince young was in college. tebow definately isn't even the best qb in college now.

How many QB came out of Hawaii, Cal, Texas tech, or florida under June Jones, Tedford, Leach and Spurrier. I can't name any

When Bama was recruiting Tebow, under Mike Shula, and had a good shot at him, Meyer said to one of his assisiants,'If we don't get him,will it be a big deal" and his asst said " If we don't get him it will set the program back 10 years"
 
I argued with Gary Danielson, who covers the SEC, and does a radio show down here(Naples/Ft Myers) He kept telling me his first year that Tebow throws funny. Then at the beginning of last year, after 2 games , he said they haven't played Tenn yet.Well they rung up 59 on Tenn and now Danielson sings his praises.
 
Enough of this. Lets talk around 730-8PM on Saturday.Let's decide this arguement on the field and not in a chat room, the way the BCS should decide who plays. I said 2 weeks ago that either Texas or Okla will get screwed

Bibendi, how much emphasis do you put on the fact that the opponents Bama has played are not great offensive teams. Yeah they have a great defense, but which teams would you consider great or even good offensive teams. IMO their defense is good because of the weak teams they have played. I know its not their fault, but it's the facts. Florida hasn't played tough offensive teams either, but they have faced a good South Carolina D and a fast FSU D and destroyed them. Comparing FSU and Bamas D, how much better do you think Bama's is compaired to FSU. And for the record, I am a fan of neither team. I was going to unload on Florida, but after you took Bama as the special, I have definetly reconsidered. Thanks and GL

DJ- I think Georgia is an exceptional offensive team. The way they shut down Georgia in the first half was impressive. Other than that, Clemson although underachieving this year still has a great running game and they held them to zero yards rushing. I also dont think you can compare FSU's D and Bamas. FSU got torched by GT on the ground and has a very overrated defense. FSU does not have even close to the talent on the defensive line that Bama possesses. That is my key to the game. If Florida cant get a push on the offensive lien then it is advantage Bama. And no one has pushed around the defensive line yet

Here are some rushing numbers on the last 5 games. I threw out Ark St for Alabama and the Citadel for florida
 
Alabama   +177 Auburn
                 +163 Miss st
                  -63 LSU
                  +142 Tenn
                   -51 Miss  that is + 368 net rushing or +74 a game
 
Florida      +215 FSU
                 +293 S Car
                  +81 Vandy
                  +79 Georgia
                   +73 Ky            +741 net rushing or +148 a game
 
Florida also outrushed LSU by 185
 
This game should be decided in the trenches. If Alabama can't run the ball they have to go to JPWilson. I think the Gators will load up the box and force Parker to throw. If this happens you will probably see 3-4 picks
 
Alabama has to stop 5 guys Tebow, Rainey, Demps and Moody and hopefully Harvin. If they stop them I would rather see Tebow throwing than JPW
 
Florida with their revamped running game is only throwing about 20 times a game. Tebow only has thrown 2 INT all year in 246 att with 25 TD

Thanx for the thread bib. I will be sitting in section 119,row 9 for THE game of this decade IMO. Bibendi you are dead on in your opinion of the game.The only thing that worries me about WINNING the game and not just covering the spread is JP Wilson.  Bama lost 6 games last year and none of them were by more than 7 points. That being said, JPW had a turnover in 4 of those 6 losses within the last 7 minutes of the game.Gators offense is great and i dont think bama will nowhere near shut them down.I will be takin the Bibendi special, parleyed with a point total that will easily soar over IMO, for the parley of the century. THANX again bibendi for the thread. GLA

Yeah I agree with you on GA, they just got behind early and it killed them. GA got torched by Tech also, and GA held Bama to around 150 yards rushing. That's not great, but it's better than most have done against Bama. Tech has a great rushing attack. Im not trying to be a b#!ch, I am trying to get a great cappers opinion. I am probably just going to play the total now. So what do u think of Bama's unworthy opponents offense?? I think we both agree this will be the best team that both teams have played all year. Thanks again and I will leave you alone about this.

Easily the best team each other will play up to this point. If you look at Bama's 1st half stats for the entire year they are impressive. They often have such a lead and domination at halftime that they get lax in the second half. I think if they are in a battle, which I expect, they wont take their foot of the gas and will play a full game which could be very scary

There is some really good info in this thread on both sides, however, before I logged on the only debate in my mind was to take the points or really hang it out there and go with Bama on the ML.

I have it at +9.5, I really want a touchdown and field goal like you Bibendi.  Should I test my luck and keep waiting to see if the line goes back up for Bama or do u think i should just lock in the +9.5 ?

Bi, its funny you mention Bamas fast starts. The Gators have outscored their last 7 opp in the firat Quarter by 137-3. . Before Florida st it was 123-0 Would you call that a fast start. I don't think Pope Urban will take his foot off the gas like he has in the last 7, except for the payback for georgia. He was ahead 49-10 and called 2 time outs in the last minuye in payback for Richt's celebration in 2007. By the way the Gators were a 71/2 pt favorite on a neutral field in Jacksonville

jordyn....that is my point exactly. Florida didnt get off to a fast start against Ole Miss and they lost. If Bama can eliminate this and not turn the ball over early on I expect them to be in the game until the end. Florida thrives off of early turnovers and putting points on the board making teams get away from the run game. That is my point
