Here is how this one breaks down:

Texas AM has no defense.

Alabama is not good on offense. Offensive line is questionable.

Texas AM will score 30+ with Manziel doing it all.

The game will then be put on McCarron's shoulders in an attempt to keep up.....That will not work. At least 2 interceptions, and that giant tattoo AJ has on his chest and arms will feel real heavy.

Bottom Line:   TAMU's home field advantage will help its defense play a few notches better than they are.  Manziel will get his numbers, like always, and McCarron is not equipped to shoot it out with him.

Alabama is overrated this season, because of the offensive line deficiencies that have been ignored, and that is the difference on Saturday.

Texas AM +8 and ML.

And one more thing.....I lost all respect for AJ McCarron last season in the title game vs Notre Dame........obnoxiously ripping his 5th year senior All-American center in front of everybody with the game in hand...he deserved an azz kicking for that one.

AJ is twice the punk that Manziel is.

So many things you said are so scewed an incorrect I don't even know where to begin.

First, JF doesn't always put up big numbers. How quickly people forget what LSU did to him last year. 0 TD's, 3 INT's, and 17 carries for 27 yards. Bama's defense is faster, stronger, and has much better coaching. Lets not also forget if we take away the first quarter, Bama dominated the game. I know we can't take that quarter away, but it can't be ignored that Bama came off a huge emotional win against LSU and were caught off guard, that's simply a fact.

Alabama not good on offense? You will certainly regret saying that when Bama puts up 20+ more points then the Aggies.

Bama over rated? You do realize A&M has absolutely no business being ranked #6. When they start playing teams that can some what slow down their offense, they're screwed because their defence lost a ton from lat year and simply doesn't look good, a couple of returning starters want fix it, it's a big problem.

Bama's offense has so many more weapons, and people are going to be shocked when they realize there's absolutely nothing wrong with the OLine.

Oh, and to top it off, AJ McCarron is a better pocket passer. Ask anyone who runs a pro style offense with a pocket passer who'd they rather, majority will say McCarron. JF is a better athlete, but Bama's defense is loaded with fast, strong, 5 star recruits.

Here is the boxscore from the V-tech vs Alabama season opener:

Alabama Virginia Tech
Score 35 10
First downs 11 7
3rd Down Efficiency 6-for-17 (35%) 3-for-17 (18%)
4th Down Efficiency 0-for-0 (0%) 0-for-0 (0%)
Total Yards 206 212
Rushing
    Rushes-Net Yards 38-96 33-153
    Average Per Rush 2.5 4.6
Passing
    Comp-Att 10-24 5-26
    Passing Yards 110 59
Average Per Pass Play 4.6 2.3
Penalties-Yards 4-25 7-35
Fumbles-Lost 0-0 0-0
Interceptions Thrown 1 1
Time of Possession 30:45

You are going to sit there and tell me that 10-24 for 100 yards and a pick is "elite" level pocket passing from AJ McCarron??  I hope you don't look as dumb as you sound.

As for Manziel's numbers vs LSU, wasn't that his first start? Or his second start?  Maybe his first look at a big time Defense as a 20 year old?  IN any case, he sort of got better as the season went on...wouldn't you agree?

By the way, I encourage you to take a good look at last years game film of TAMU vs Alabama.  Manziel was the best player on the field and everyone knew it...even Saban.  The Tide's defense was about as good as I have seen last season, and they looked baffled.  Basically, Manziel was able to do something that no one else had done to Bama in years.

EVERYTHING that Alabama does on offense is off of play action.  If TAMU is able to get ahead quickly and by 2 tds, all of that goes out the window.  If Bama's oline has lost as much as I think they have (and they have), they will not be looking at 2nd down  and 2's all season long; and news flash, AJ McCarron will look a lot every other 3rd string NFL QB. Tall, good arm, and largely worthless in a shootout.

Seriously, is there a less demanding job than being the starting QB on a great football team like Alabama?  Handoff, be blessed with great field position, and very rarely be asked to hang up 35?  Wouldn't you say that AJ is told to "take care of the ball" and that is it?

And after all of that, all of the success, for McCarron to show up his lineman on national TV?  It is safe to say that I am not a fan.

Never Make A Winner A Loser. Never.

38 carries for 96 yds vs Vtech.....granted Vtech is much better on defense than AM, but seriously?  The O-line isn't weaker than last season?

Hey Boom.

I am on the other side on this game. A&M's advantage on offense won't overcome Alabama's advantage on defense.

Alabama outgained A&M last year, they just were sloppy with the ball.  I expect both teams to score, with Alabama winning a close one.

Alabama 34

Texas A&M 27

I am much more confident Alabama wins than I am that they cover 8 points.

I've already put you in your place, I don't need to email covers to do so. You can request for a mod to provide you the information. One thing I can assure is that wasn't me. I want to see you stick around, and so do a lot of people around here, but it's not for your self proclaimed "knowledge"' it's strictly for entertainment purposes.

First, JF's start against LSU was his 7th of year, not any where even close to his first. His first start came against Florida, another top notch defense and guess what? They shut him down. So, now if we take away 1 single quarter, it becomes evident that when JF aka Jesus plays against top notch defences, he tends to get shut down more often then not. Elite defences made him look average for 11 out of 12 quarters, but, as many have stated, there's no chance Bama will shut him down, there's just no way.

You're judging AJ McCarron for one game that obviously was supposed to contain the most vanilla play calling ever, it was ridiculous. Lets return to last season shall we. JF has 26 TD's and 9 INT's. AJ had 30 TD's and 3 INT's, here the difference through, JF had much more time on the field when games were out of hand to throw garbage time TD's against bad teams, yet the "horrible" pocket passer in AJ who played probably 10 quarters less then JF finds a way to put up better numbers in regards to throwing the ball. I know what's coming next though, the typical, if JF had that OLine, then he'd do the same. Unfortunately, JF did have a very good OLine last year so that argument is bs to me.

Fair enough. You are a stat guy. That is good.  You have picked your side and I have picked mine.

But, for the record, a 30-3 ratio comes into being when you are asked to take chances a very small portion of the time.  Manziel was asked to carry a team....big difference.

And quite frankly, I don't care at all about the LSU game last season.  I had LSU -4.....but I also had Alabama -13 over the aggies. And guess what....they got boat raced.

One more thing......you are giving no credit at all to Manziel moving the sticks in critical spots during the second half of the Bama game. You do understand that when a team has a 2 score lead they do not need to score at will...most teams will try to bleed it out in the second half, on the road, in Tuscaloosa?

Personally, I think you need your head examined to lay 8.5 on Saturday...but like you said, it looks to be Bama by 21.

I guess my best advice is to not watch so much Sportscenter.

The vt game was the equivalant of an 8 handicap golfer going out and shooting 100 and recording is score, then playing in the club championship the next week. You all are about to be duped!

Bama is my choice boom

Went back & forth so many times & was going to sit it out but my gut feel tells me Bama 38-20

If Bama covers you owe me a beer, if A&M covers you owe me a beer, that's our bet

AJ is twice the punk that Manziel is.

good luck with that...by half time, you'll be re-examing the basis of your perspective...saban and bama v. Johnny Football...I will take saban and bama...

I have been on this forum long enough to know Boom knows his shit.(Not recently though, been to busy in life to really study the way I like before I lay my money on the line, but am coming back strong this year) While I disagree with his logic(the part about Bama's players being arrogant) I can see where he comes from. If there is one thing Saban does not put up with it is players thinking their shit does not stink. He reminds them everyday they are not perfect. He demands perfection and although he gets it at certain times he is never satisfied.

I look at this game like the 08-09 SEC championship game. Insert Tebow. The heart of the Gators. He single handedly beat Bama in 08. Fast forward a year and he was crying by halftime. Point being Bama does not let one man beat them a 2nd time.

Bama has the edge in just about every position except 1 and that's QB.
Bama's d has a larger advantage over A&M s O than A&Ms D has over Bama's O.

Last year Johnny snuck up on everyone not a Aggie fan, including the Tide which can be seen in last years game. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was 20-0. So basically the aggies torched Bama for a Quarter. The next 3 they scored a whole 9 points. Not exactly Johnny's style.

I will leave you with this. Here is a video of a defensive tactic Nick Saban and Bill Belichick came up with while at Cleveland. It's called Rip/Liz Match.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kM21euJf74g&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DkM21euJf74g

This basically gives Bama's defense the ability to spy Johnny, how they beat Tebow the 2nd time around.

This was ran last year at times but I think we will see a very heavy dose of it this year, and with Johnny loosing some playmakers around him he will have to be MORE of a playmaker than he already is, and I don't think that's possible in this game.

Sure Johnny is gonna break some and hit some plays down the field but look for this to be more like the last 3 quarters then the 1st of last years game.

Prediction?

27-20 Bama.

With all that said I am not playing this game. To many factors that can affect the game one way or another, it's just to much of a crap shoot.

My prediction 35 - 17 Bama, so we are both thinking seventeenish or so   .... I know you were only joking with him about a beer bet, seeing you would be owed a beer either way, but I still thought I would remind you that, that low life doesn't pay his bets
