The season is finally here! My first play of the season is in:
Southeast Missouri State +18 (-110) 1.10 Units
Brad Korn is back for Season 6 at SEMO and is the reigning Coach of the Year in OVC, as well as coming off a 1st place regular season finish. They return seven seniors and some great young talent, including PJ Farmer, who passed on offers from Ole Miss and Missouri. BJ Ward is also back and is from STL and gets a homecoming revenge game right off the bat. SEMO also has multiple 7 footers that will match up well with Avila. SE Missouri finished strong last year, winning 11 of 13, and motivated after an early exit. Give me the dog, +18, who is also coming off a conference championship with Coach of the Year.

Saint Peter’s @ Seton Hall – UNDER 130.5 (-110) 1.10 Units
Two of the slowest tempos in college hoops. St Peters 354th overall and Seton Hall 317th overall. Their matchup last year finished with 110 total points. The Under has hit in all 3 matchups between Coach Mason and Coach Halloway the last 3 years. Last season, when playing teams with 300 or worse tempo, Seton Hall unders were 2-1, and Saint Peters unders were 4-0. These teams combined to go 6-1 to the Under in matchups with this tempo.

Coach Faulker is back for year 2 at YSU, coming off a 21-win first season and a top 150 defense and top 80 D in Effective FG %. Pitt really struggled to score at end of last year, and I don’t see much improvement. Cam Polak is back for YSU for his 6 year, and average 18 PPG last year. Chris Caroll is back and was named 1Team All Horizon League by coaches this pre-season. YSU has several 5 and 6 year Seniors on the team with loads of experience that will keep this one close. YSU has covered 5 of their last 7 as double digit dogs.

Jacksonville’s initial defensive efficiency is top 160, against a Miami team that was horrendous last year, and has a first-time head coach and one of worst home courts/crowds in college hoops. Miami’s offense projects toward bottom of ACC. Jax has some nice return players as well as a mix of transfers. Jordan Mincy is one of more established coaches in Asun and he’ll have them ready to compete here.
Mercyhurst / Northwestern UNDER 140.5 (-110) 1.10 Units
Both teams have Adjusted Tempos ranked 300+. Last season, these teams had 5 total games against opponents with tempo ranked 300 or worse, and the Under was 4-1 in those games (not including OT games).
Howard +20.5 (-110) 1.10 Units
A rare visit from a SEC school to a MEAC gym. These teams played at Missouri last year, and Missouri won (did not cover) by 15 points. Howard has recent success under Coach Blakeney and some nice transfers in, including Cam Gillus from Lehigh. Bryce Harris returns, who was last years MEAC Pre-Season POY, but missed most of season due to injury. One of biggest Howard home games in their history, and will be a sold out gym (only 2600 seats).
