Out our front door to the left was Hispanic mostly Puerto Ricans. To the right was Hispanic Mexicans. Behind us for the 6 blocks to Temple University was Black. Finally on the was to the Piazza at Schmidts was a super large and very gated Muslim compound.
The point here is that while coexisting in daily life there was most certainly an element of isolation or "tribalism" as the article reads. To any observer the very thing "they" are demanding is never reciprocated by the groups "they" are demanding on behalf of.
Groups want to do their thing, just in a different place when theirs falls apart. Sort of the like NYC / North Jersey folks that move out here to the Poconos with their failed big city values.
