How much of this means anything useful because you see it all the time. Unless there is a reason why such apparent trends are happening then isn’t it just a consequence of our desire to see order where there is none?
I see claims that LAD are 12-0 on a Tuesday. Unless there is something superior in their planning for Tuesday games it is misleading rubbish

-110 favorites? Like exactly that line for that stat? They opened at even so they were dogs does that nullify it being in that stat? Ultimately I don’t trust any of these stats to make a pick. it’s unfortunate if you don’t like the dodgers seems like they’re going to repeat for getting hot at the right time. Their record was bad and they lost a series to the Rockies prior then boom on fire and they have playoff experience. Anyway I’m taking LAD for game 3 as a grade A pick though the juice is high take the -1
The stars might lie but the #’s never do…I feel lucky today

Personally I think you just hit the nail on the head. People will always be able to "see" something and especially when it "validates" their previously held beliefs. I'm not saying that all stats and trends are irrelevant. As people way smarter than myself have said before though ,"you have to separate the signal from the noise".
