So what am I missing? How is safety affecting anything.

Sure it affects live betting for that particular drive but that's it.  I doubt you got a ton of bettors glue to live betting on one drive near the end of a 1pm game that was a blowout at halftime.

Heck the go to bet at halftime is always to take the loser if its a blowout.  The NFL wants people to watch till the end.  Blowouts prevent thats!
