Alright Ladies, im betting on the Niners, anything under -3, hopefully -2 or less.
Niners are hungry, they know they gonna win the division. I say they come out and make a statement to open the season (just as the Seahawks wanna come out and make a statement in the home opener as well. Im just saying that the Niners have been building the last few years and they know that this their year to make that jump to a legit playoff team. They have more continuity, commitment to each other, vision, and drive than the rebuilding Hawks, imo, and I think that does count for something).
49ers are a top ten defense, I just dont think the seahawks have the firepower, the o-line play, the playmakers, AND the defense to matchup and win this game. What they DO have is homefield advantage - one of the better ones in the league...what concernes me are the 2 rookies on the o-line for the niners - davis and iupati, in a loud, hostile environment. Alex Smith, as many of you know, has the same offense for the 2nd year in a row for the first time, and it has shown in the practices, workouts, and preseason. Last year they didnt have all the blitz pickups and audibles and adjustments down, weren't on the same page, and it showed in all the hurried passes, sacks, throw aways, bad plays, and checkdowns. The offense got Crabtree for a whole year, Davis is uncoverable, and the reports on Ginn have been impressive. Remember that Gore has gone bananas against the Seahawks over the last few years - i think he had a million yards and 500 td's against them last year.
Anything -3 or under. If they win by 1 or 2 then fck it, ish happens. NFL betting 101 - pick the winner, and more often than not they cover the spread. If you think the rebuilding Seahawks with far lesser talent and continuity can win with their only advantage being homefield, then play them. Im picking the team with more talent, continuity, physicality, defense, that has been building for years to get to this point in space/time.
