Just a few days away from the Big Game Congrats to Den and Sea fans
I will start off by saying, obviously, I am an NFC guy. I was going to back an NFC team in the Superbowl this year besides the Eagles. I just dont think the AFC is very good. I will say that Peyton Manning is the best QB I have seen play and he had their offense had an amazing year.
With that said, I think those numbers are so great because of the very poor teams in the AFC and defense they played. In the 16 games this regular season, only 4 of them came against the top half in the NFL in yards allowed, none of those were top 5...Balt 12th, Giants 8th, Hous 7th and Tenn 14th. They played 11 games, yes 11 of 16 against defenses that were 20th or worse in the NFL in yards allowed. That means 69% of their games this year were played against the easiest 12 teams to move the ball against. Not taking away all the records the put up, but they were never challanged.
Now, the thing with Denver/Manning and why hey ae so good, is getting rid of the ball so fast before the D gets any pressure. That will change Sunday. Sea is great at getting pressure, while playing man to man. Nobody Den has played this year will be able to man-up all over the field like Sea will be able to do. The biggest advantage Manning always has is reading the defense and knowing where the open spot will be. He wont be able to do that Sunday. Sea will play press-man, and Manning will have to WAIT to see which WR wins off the line.
I dont see any of the WRS for Denver being able to win the battle at the line. This will then allow the Dline and any LB they need to bring to put pressure on Manning. In the past, these are the types of teams that handle Manning. I wouldnt be surprised to see Sea drop a couple LB in the middle to even make it that much harder to pass. I think Sea will get atleast 2 INTS, and maybe 3-4.
On the other side, Wilson and Sea offense is nothing to impress. But, I dont think they have to do too much. I think it is more important for Wilson to NOT lose the game, as much as it is for him to WIN the game. Hand the ball to Lynch, and run some zone reads. Then, just make enough passes at crucial times to put points on the board.
I try not to let past stats influence my bets, but I also like a few stats into this game. The #1 defense is 12-3 in the Superbowl, while the #1 offense is only 10-8. Also, as good as Manning is he is 0-4 in playoff games in which the temp will be Sunday. Giants stadium is a tough place to pass, especially with the winds that will be there Sunday. Mannings arm strength isnt what it used to be.
I think it is a shame that people are saying Manning needs to win this game to be a "great" QB. To me, he is already great win or lose, the best I have seen in my 31 years, probably 20 of which remembering football.
But, I dont think he can get it done. Denver is facing a defense like they have not seen this year, and I think the NFC is too much, and Seattle will prove it Sunday with a win.
I should be smart and by the points up to a fg, but Im a degenerate and dont think the points will be needed.
Sea ML +110 $2500 wins $2750
Good luck to you all, and heres hoping to see a good last game of the year
