Why are teams going for 2 pt. conversions when down by 2 touchdowns?
Example 1.
Jacksonville was down by 14 points, they score a TD and go for the 2 pt. conversion. They failed and lose by 8. In a hypothetical world where they score another touchdown, they are forced to go for 2, just to tie. From a logical standpoint, this puts more pressure on the team than just kicking the extra point and only needing 7 points to tie.
Example 2.
Cincinnati is down by 14 points, they scored a TD and also go for 2 pt. conversion. They make it, thus only being down 6. Same thinking miss it and add more pressure. Make it and win with a TD?
It seems to me, that based on closing lines, this line of thinking can only tell me that these moves can only effect teaser betters.
In the Jags game line was +1. A 6pt. tease losses and a 7pt. tease pushes.
In the Bengals situation +14, If you tease GB down the 6 and 7 pt. teasers are losers.
I have been watching and gambling on football for over 40 years. The 2 pt. conversion has been around a long time and I have never seen it come in to play more when down by 2 tds than this year, and today in particular. Other than mushing teasers, what is the logic behind this?

They are getting their ass kicked so if they happen to be lucky enough to get the 2 and down 6 when they score again the extra point gives them a win. They could go for the 2 and the win the last TD but thats even more pressure with the game on the line in that moment

It's been going on for like 5 years bro. I don't agree with it but it's pretty simple and nothing to do with idiotic teasers.
You go for 2 and don't get it, you can still tie if you score again and go for it and get it
If you do get it, you can win the game with another TD and PAT
I don't like it but if you haven't noticed this yet you aren't watching much football this has been around now a while just like the whole going for it on every 4th down now

2 point conversion has a 50 percent conversion rate.
If you hit then your next TD gives you a 1 point lead.
if you miss you still have another shot to tie with a a TD and second 2 point attempt.
it’s analytics based. While I don’t fully agree with the approach, it’s been a well established strategy in the league now. It’s not gambling related. The coaches don’t give a fuck about teasers lol

Us old folks who grew up accustomed to a regular brand of football is no more...same reason why teams go for it on 4th down at an alarming rate now a days...back in the day it was a rarity

It's been going on for like 5 years ......... You go for 2 and don't get it, you can still tie if you score again and go for it and get it If you do get it, you can win the game with another TD and PAT I don't like it.
I also noticed this started a few years back. I don't like it either, unless of course it helps me! :)
If you think you can or you think you can't ... you are right.
