I was thinking -2.5 with Roethlisberger in so maybe -6 now. Dont really know much about Dixon but assuming he has very little NFL experience, tough spot for him.

As far as I can tell from NFL.com Dixon has played in five pre-season games in the last two years without putting up any figures worth shouting about, not that we can put too much emphasis on pre-season.

Got Ravens at -150 so happy.

People will tend to play on Ravens by knowing Ben Roethlisburger has been out, so my orginal guess line might be a tad too low, Ravens -6.or -6.5 might be more closed to what LVSC has to open.

Good point Europa, Vegas will struggle to offer a line that will persuade people to back the Steelers now.

LVSC will figure out a line pretty soon by knowing Dennis Dixon is in. They couldn't make a line since the uncertain status of Big Ben but they will find a line pretty fast now. Yes this is a SNF game which books will get heavier dose of bets but it's still only one of 16 games NFL has to play this week. Books can afford to open a bad line and lose the money to the public.

if he does play, the ravens will probably give him another concussion and he will go into an early retirement.

i heard he has had about a half dozen in his life ( high school,college )
probably got one when he wrecked his bike too.

wasn't troy aikmen forced to retire due to concussions ?

Fox's Jay Glazer reports via his Twitter account that Ben Roethlisberger (concussion) is out for Sunday night's game against the Ravens.
Glazer reports that Big Ben was suffering from exercise-induced headaches and the team has decided to hold him out. Dennis Dixon, a 2008 fifth-round pick out of Oregon, will get the start because normal No. 2 QB Charlie Batch (wrist) is also out. ESPN stated today that Big Ben is a gametime decison....Id take BAL up to -10 with Dixon @ QB.....But will wait for something more definitive

Just broke away from the Clemson/South Carolina game to report Ben out. Fuck, I knew I should have played Balt thinking this could happen.

NO Ben and NO Poo = NO soup for my Steelers

probably just as well that Ben's out. with that PennDot pylon offensive line, he would have gotten KILLED by Ray Lewis and the Ravens D.
