The more and more I think about this fight the more I like Conor.  To the point where I will place a pretty large wager on him.

4 inches taller.  8 inch reach advantage.  EIGHT inches.  Against a former amatuer boxer.  Watch Conor's fight vs Poirier.  Dustin couldnt even touch him on the feet and he's a much bigger guy than Chad.  McGregor is really good at staying outside the punching range of his opponents.  And thats vs taller guys with normal reaches like Holloway and Poirier.  Who is the biggest guy Chad has fought?  Guida?  Sure Chad won the fight but he couldnt keep a bigger guy like Guida on the mat.  You really think he's gonna keep Conor on the mat who is big as Guida and 5x the athlete?   I respect Mendes alot - I just see the size disparity here as a real problem for him and see him getting picked apart on the feet.  I dont think he will be able to get inside on Conor enough to win enough of the rounds with his wrestling as I dont see him getting a  ton of takedowns.  And if he does get them I dont see the fight staying on the mat for a long period.  Throw in the short camp for Mendes and cardio could be a real issue here from round 3 on.  Too many things working against Mendes here for me.

This line has rocketed from mendes actually being the favorite I think it was 5dimes as a hypothetical match after Aldo was in jeopardy of fighting to now Conor jumping up huge to -170 range now.   You missed the chance to get a really good line but I wonder how much more this line can climb?  Connor definitely getting tons of action.

Unfortunately for Chad he couldnt keep Conor on his back for the entire fight.  McGregor is so damn powerful and explosive on the feet he doesnt need much of an opening to end fights.  I think Conor beats Aldo because Aldo will choose to stand and trade.  And thats not a great idea bc Conor is so long and rangy and can hurt you at a moment's notice.

The guy I think that beats Conor...is Edgar.  Edgar wont gas.  Mendes' gas tank has been a question for a while.  It reared his head again here.  Conor's TDD and guard are questionable.  I can see Edgar grinding Conor down to a decision.

I predict Conor beats Aldo, then Edgar beats Conor, then Aldo beats Edgar.  What a division.  Honestly not sure how long Conor will stay at featherweight tho.  He's already having a ton of trouble making weight.  He's too big for the division but thats his biggest advantage.  He better not move to lightweight b/c he will lose his physical advantages there.  A bigger guy like Dos Anjos would grapplef*kk him to death.

Conor will dominate this division, his standup is just too good...he has so many weapons there just nothing you can do about it. The variation of kicks he uses (back kicks, side kicks, snaps & roundhouses...). Also has deadly power & precision with his hands, biggest reach in the div as well, no one has the stamina or conditioning to take a fighter as strong as Conor down for 5 rounds straight, he needs very little time to hurt you badly...

Another thing, Conors mindset is similar to that of Jon Jones, one of those guys who wants to better himself every time and I m confident his takedown defense will be better next time around.

Conor is no Jon Jones.  Jones cannot be taken down.  He has no weakness inside the cage.  Not one.  Conor does.  If you're a high level wrestler like Mendes or Edgar you can take him down, repeatedly.  That said, you need the cardio to go along with the wrestling to sustain it every round for 5 rounds.  You also need the chin to walk through some stuff.  Didnt I just describe Edgar?

Dont sell Frankie short.  He seems to have all the variables it appears you need to beat McGregor.  I truly think Edgar is a matchup nightmare for him.  Aldo could be as well but he's not as aggressive with his wrestling as Frankie.  Aldo likes to stand and kick you.  Frankie is looking to throw some quick combos just so he can set you up for takedowns.

I never said he is jon jones, read what i wrote again..."mindset is similar to that of Jon Jones"

I dont think Frankie has a chance, Conor will destroy him standing up...if anyone has a chance, its Aldo.

Aldo beats Conor....IF he's intent to use his wrestling each round.  Thats his major advantage in the matchup.  Not standing.  But on the ground.

My reasoning for Aldo is that he can put up a fight strike for strike and if he executes a good gameplan where he takes Conor down & scores points on the ground...then I think he has a decent chance to win by decision.

Not selling Frankie short and I understand what you mean by it being a bad matchup, I just dont think he can stand with Conor, eventually he ll land a kick or punch that will hurt him & its all downhill from there. Just like with Mendes today...even in the beginning of the fight today, he landed a back kick early on, and I dont know if you noticed but Mendes was having trouble breathing for a good 20 seconds.

McGregor has zero business fighting at 145.  He weighs nowhere near that weight and most the fighters his size are at 155 or higher.  A guy like Mendes was able to take him down pretty easy even with the big size advantage, imagine the wrecking McGregor would get fighting guys at 155.  Even with that said, after tonight's fight, I wouldn't be surprised if Edgar beat him and Aldo probably has to worry way more about getting busted for PED's than fighting McGregor.

Aldo really doesn't belong at 145 either for that matter.  Both him and McGregor should be at 155.

Mendes was getting TDs and maintaining top control relatively easy. But faded fast. If he didn't go for that sub and lose his top control the fight may have ended differently

Yes, Frankie would be a dif story all together. He will do what Mendes did without fading. I was surprised how how quickly Mendes gassed - a lot of the time he was just keeping top control with our even trying to pass
