RACE 2 #8 WHENIGOTOHEAVEN ML 3-1
The race goes off @ 12:03 EST.
@pittsburghphil
The field @ Laurel in the 2nd race has two scratches which will screw the tote with only 6 going.
Like another @ Aqueduct Race 9 #3 Tuscan Gold ML 3-1.
Will post anything else I see.
Good to cu phil!

Whenigettoheaven got caught at the wire losing by a half length while going 3 wide in a speed duel with #6. Torrealba should have sat off the pace instead of battling for the lead. Cost him the race IMO.

Keenland
Race 1 crapshoot with a bunch of 1st timers. #2, 6 & 12 all have a race under their belt. I'll take a shot with the best jocks/trainer.
DD 5-8-10 with 4-8.

Unless you have some info that a 2 year old has got a little talent, capping these babies is rough. You can look at ownership, breeding, works etc but the picture isn't always clear.
These are just action plays.

Grand Mahogany went off @ 15-1 & ran a decent 3rd paying $5.48
Race 5 is another MSW for 2 year olds. I'll pass on this one but trainer Whitworth (what a 1st name) Beckman scratched his #3 which allowed his AE #13 to get into the race. Currently 7-1 with Pratt on this 1st timer.
Small WPS here on #13

#13 closed to run 2nd by a head paying $7.14/$4.62
Sneaky move by trainer Beckman but he couldn't get it past me...hahah
He came from way back with Pratt. This filly goes on the stable.

Ownership and breeding are very minor points when evaluating 2yo's. Workouts are vital!
Some tenets:
1) Time of work is of very minimal significance.
2) Pattern, # of works and spacing are important
3) Has today's rider worked the horse.
1A Faster the work(s), the shorter the price
2A Generally, with a juvenile, they begin at a training/breaking center/farm before going to their trainer. Once there, walked unde rtack, ponied on the main, Galloped, eventually a work, (anything more than 3/8's noteworthy), understanding trainer intent then the pattern key. Tenet: a 2yo misses a work (within their pattern auto toss.
3A Certainly important, especially if the boy chooses another!
Lastly many works are available online free. Paid analysis of major tracks ubiquitous and in my opinion worth the $10 to $20 fee. bbb
