There's tons of data out there on the best horses in the world. If you see something, share it with us all. I'll start....
If you are playing the JUVINILE TURF SPRINT, note the last 4 winners have been shipped in from Europe. This year, TRUE LOVE, HAVANNA ANNA & MILITARY CODE will try to keep the streak going.
In the JUVENILE FILLIES, the chalk has won at a 50% clip. This will be a rematch for TOMMY JO & PERCY'S BAR.
You'll notice that the top trainers/owners are loaded for bear this weekend & have multiple shots in multiple races.

Canterbury trainer David VanWinkle gets his first BC starter with Mad House in the Sprint after 36 years of training he has a star in his stable. It took him 6 starts to break his maiden but has won 4 in a row including the Gallant Bob stakes where he went gate to wire with Waco Paco who is currently suspended from racing. In that race he beat Baffert's highly touted Barnes. Luis Saez gets the pickup mount. Interestingly they tried to rate this horse but he just wants to run. So they changed his racing style & he has been unbeaten going to the lead.
In the Classic, Chad Brown will have his "rabbit" Contrary Thinking setting up the race for a closing Sierra Leone like he did in the Jockey's Gold Cup & the Whitney. Brown says he's using Contrary Thinking to insure a "honest" pace but other trainers think that's bullshit. Vocal owner Mike Repole's Mindframe unseated Irad after a chain reaction caused by Contrary Thinking in the Gold Cup. He doesn't like the idea of his colt Fierceness having to deal with a suicidal pace. Many in horse racing frown on rabbits who have no realistic chance of winning like Contrary Thinking who finished 68 lengths behind in his last race. BTW. Sierra Leone is the defending Classic winner.
34 million will be up for grabs in these BC races. 203 million was wagered on last year's races. 58 horses will be shipped in from Europe, Africa, Asia & North/South America. There are four AE's (Also Eligible) in the dirt races & 6 in the Juvenile & Turf Cup races. Don't disregard these AE's.

Don't bet horses much anymore but I always bet the big races and the BC will be for sure on my weekend plans
Looking forward to seeing who you like.
BTW thanks for the lesson never knew what rabbits meant I always knew that goes on in alot of races where there are obvious horses put in by a trainer/owner that are only there to help the stablemate win, just never knew what the term was. However, I did not know they allowed that in BC races as I always assumed you had to qualify in order to get in the races so they would make sure the field is always somewhat competitive.

Yup iceman you always have to consider "motive" when a horse gets entered but some things are just blatant like the situation above. Tons of questions like. Why are they dropping this horse in class? Are they looking for him to win the race & get claimed like the horse Rick Pitino told me about @ Gulfstream when he won the race & his horse got claimed. He was just sitting near the walking ring in our row & told my wife about him. She thinks I was always see famous people who aren't. Anyway, he asked if we liked playing the horses & said his horse had a good chance of winning. So I wheeled him in the exacta for $11. He won the race with a purse of 27k & his horse got claimed for 45k. So the man made 72k in minutes. My exacta paid $122 when a 60-1 ran 2nd. His horse when off at 3-2. So on that day, he was feeling frisky like he knew his horse was really live. At least in these races everyone is really trying to win & Brown thinks using a rabbit gives his horse Sierra Leone the best shot at winning.
The stock running this weekend is at a higher level on the undercards as well & I'm always looking at who will be the hot jock on that given day, of course track conditions & the tote board's first flash can give some clues. Which then makes me think ..is this just early "owner" money so that get their bet down & have fun the rest of the day.
Money Mike Smith has the BC record for most wins by a jockey with 27 wins & he has a couple of mounts. Johnny V is 2nd with 21 & Irad is 3rd with 20. Flavian Prat winning at almost 24% could be the hot jock as well.
As far as trainers, Aidan O'Brien is tied with the Coach Lukas with 20 wins. Baffert & Brown have 19 each with Pletcher & Mott at 15.
Speaking of Mott, I just read that his colt in the Classic, Sovereignty has a fever & may miss the race.

I have been on Percy’s Bar all year. Got taken down in her last race, and it was a deserved DQ. Playing the ponies for over four decades, Percy showed me in her first two starts that she can be special. I had gotten word on the ability of Tommy Jo before her maiden win. She’s good. But…
I am so surprised that Ben Colebrook is staying with Luan Machado here. I thought he panicked in the last race with Percy. Keeping Luan is telling me that Colebrook believes Luan fits this filly. I’m all in on Percy on Friday. She owes me nothing $$$ wise. Go, baby, go!

Gonna be a riders race. So….Money Mike may be in the catbirds seat? I’m not changing. I tell Luan, break well, make a left at the turns! The filly will do it from there

We all get "hooked" on a horse every once in awhile. I've been hooked on White Abarrio since he broke his maiden. He'll try to win the Dirt Mile after winning the Classic in 2023. He'll be the first Classic winner to try winning a different race in the championships.
Trainer David Jacobson won't be able to saddle Brandishing in the Sprint because he was unable to acquire workmen's comp insurance in Cali. He hasn't saddled a horse in Cali since 2018 & his current insurance doesn't cover California. Chad Summers will saddle the gelding & Gafflione will ride him.
Boy, how disappointing & crazy is that!
Khaadem at the age of 9 will be the oldest horse to race when he tries in the Turf Sprint.
Check out the walk on #2 Goliath in the Turf. The "stomp" refers to Goliath's stringhalt, also known as equine reflex hypertonia, which is a neuromuscular condition that causes Goliath to lift his left hind leg in an exaggerated upward motion with each step he takes at the walk and trot. He ships in from Germany for the race. Bricks and Motor had the same condition & it didn't stop him from winning the Turf Cup & Horse of the Year titles. Also in the race is Rebel Red who lost an eye in a stable accident.
The BC Juvenile will have 7 race which is the smallest field for this race ever. Undefeated Ted Noffey, a big gray, will try to give Pletcher his 5th Juvenile winner.

Actually, Percy's Bar is takethecannolis play. He's been on the colt from the beginning.
Something you'll see & won't like is the late tote board changes seconds before the race & it's been happening at every racetrack. It's all the late money wagered online. There was an incident at Keeneland where a horse left the gate at 8-1 but won the race @ 3-1 due to the CAW (Computer Aided Wagering) that is encouraged by racing to boost the handle. Advanced algorithms are used to analyze all the data including pool sizes & odds to identify & exploit discrepancies in the wagering & make large wagering plays based on that data. The Elite Turf Group owned by Frank Stronach is one of these taking advantage of the inefficiencies. Thankfully some tracks will begin limiting these late huge wagers to 2 minutes before post time so the average bettor will see the changes before the race instead of after the races starts. But that won't happen this weekend @ Del Mar. Class action suits have already underway to level the playing field.
Just some data if you plan to wager on the undercard. Peter Eurton is the hot trainer at the meet winning 4 of 12. Hot jocks are Juan Hernandez winning at 27% & Flavian Prat winning 3 of 6 races. Those who are cold include trainer Mike Puype is 0 for 10 & jockey Kyle Frey is 0 for 17. This is a small sample size but I though worth noting.
Exotic wagering in the BC races can be very profitable. Daily Double average $125; exactas $99; trifectas $744; pic3's $1229; pick 4's $9,693. There is money to be made so let's get some of it.

Europeans have won the last 3 races. Previously, Wesley Ward had won the previous 3 years. Ward has # 11 Schwarzenegger entered & will probably set the pace with #12 Lennilu setting it up for #9 True Love to close off the pace for Aidan O'Brien.
RACE 7 JUVINILE FILLIES
Pletcher hasn't won this race #5 Tommy Jo entered here. He'll have a rematch with #4 Percy's Bar. Baffert's #7 Explora may be the best of all. #1 Iron Orchard is a stable play for me. She's 3 for 3 & won the Frizette with a big closing move to win by a nose.
RACE 8JUVENILE FILLIES TURF
Chad Brown has won this race 6 times but surprisingly he doesn't have anyone in this race. Aidan O'Brien's #13 Precise ships in & is the 6/5 favorite but #9 Time to Dream for Pletcher may have something to say about it.
RACE 9 JUVENILE
Pletcher's goes for his 5th title in this race with undefeated #8 Ted Noffey is the 4/5 favorite but steps up in company against Baffert's #7 Brant who is also undefeated. Baffert has won the race 6 times.
RACE 10 JUVENILE TURF (COLTS)
Here we have the favorite #14 Gstaad for Aidan O'Brien from the outside & has run 2nd 3 three times in a row & is certainly beatable. I have my eye on #7 Gordan Pass ML 20-1. He's a lightly raced colt who made a huge move from 12th to grab 3rd in his last race @52-1. Love that he gets Irad interested enough to hop onboard. Don't know if he'll win but I'll make a small play on him.

These BC races are a chance for trainers & jockeys to make a lot of money. However, I just noticed some of the biggest names in racing are not in many races For example...
Friday
Trainers Charlie Appleby has 1 in Race 6; Mark Casse has 1 in the 8th; Brad Cox has 1 in the 8th; Eddie Kenneally has 1 in the 9th; Mike Maker 1 in the 10th; Kenny McPeek 1 in the 9th & George Weaver has 1 in the 6th.
As far as jockeys, Junior Alvarado has 1 in the 4th & 6th; Javier Castellano has 1 in the 10 that & that really surprised me; Manny Franco has 1 in the 10th & Mike Smith has 1 in the 1st & 7th.
SATURDAY
Brad Cox has 1 in the 12th; Kenny McPeek has 1 in the 11th; Bill Mott has 1 in the 7th & 9th; Todd Pletcher has 2 in the 9th.
Junior Alvarado has 1 in the 7th & 9th; Javier has 1 in the 5th & 6th; Manny Franco has 1 in the 8th; Florent Geroux has 1 in the 9th & 12. These jocks have limited opportunity to have a big pay day. But in the same vein, they really only have to come ITM (In The Money) to get a very nice paycheck.
On the other hand, the Ortiz Brothers have mounts in almost every race as does Gafflione, Johnny V. Flavian Prat & Umberto Rispoli.
I'm going to start capping the races tonight while watching the Dolphins/Ravens game & will point certain things as I finish each race. I won't say much about the undercards unless something jumps out at me.

RACE 1 #9 BRAZENLY ML 9/2..hasn't won a race in 12 tries this year but has been knocking on the door going 12-0-4-5. #11 LEGITIMATE ML 6-1.. has been away for 9 months. Before going on the bench, Prat won on this guy by 12 @ Santa Anita.
RACE 2 #4 PROTON ML 5-1..has won both starts & has been well bet. Ships in from Maryland. Question the caliber of who he has beaten. #7 LATER THAN PLANNED ML 8-1...2 races back he was rank (means not behaving) but other than that he's 4-2-1.
There's my early DD 9-11 with 4 & 7
RACE 3 #2 CEE DREW ML 8-1..has a hot trainer in Dan Blacker how is winning @ 26% clip. This one was well bet in her only try winning by about 2 lengths in a big closing run. Goes a furlong farther here. #6 CASHED ML 10-1..tired in her last & taken over in the stretch by #4 Miss Kona. #7 TOO SASSY ML9/2..has won her last 2 Del Mar. #9 MOHAVEN ML 4-1..beat #4 but ran 3rd to #7. Has been well bet in all 3 tries. #12 LIBERATION ML 9/2..won her last & ran 3rd to #7 & 9. Your guess is as good as mine.
RACE 4 QUEEN MAXIMA..has won 6 of 11 but his last 2 she's ran 6th. #6 SHOOT IT TRUE ML 5/2..has won 4 of 6 for trainer Wesley Ward who loves running his fillies at the 5 furlong distance on the turf. #7 PURO MAGIC ML 4-1..has banked over 1 million racing in Japan. Who knows? #9 GREAT VENEZUELA ML 6-1..has won 8 of 14 & has never been out of the money going 14 for 14.
RACE 5 Don't really see anything to share other than I expect #2 OCEAN BEAR ML 5/2 to be tough & like the jock upgrade to Irad.

Have 2 horses on Fridays card that I have pegged as live longshot plays..
here are my plays for Fridays races
RACE 7
#8 Super Corredora 15-1
Horse is bred from Gun Runner, so this one won't mind the distance at all. Last time out, she took off in a 2 turn event and smoked the field. Those
first 2 starts were sprints and i don't think she was at all interested, nice overlay on a well bred filly.
RACE 10
#6 NORTH COAST 30-1
Any time i can get Patrick Obrien at 30-1, it's worth a look. Horse caught an off track last time out vs GSTADD and never ran well. He deserves another shot here on firm ground with the favorite grabbing a tough post. He handily won a grade 3 stakes race 2 races ago, wiring the field going 2 turns left handed

#8 Super Corredora is stepping up in class & from her last race should like the added distance. There's tons of speed in this race, so coming off the pace may be her only option.
#6 North Coast won on an off track her race before meeting #14 Gstaad so I'm not sure the track condition was the cause of her losing by 10 lengths. I agree the post #14 is a bad spot for Gstaad. Take a look at #2 Street Beat who won her last 2 @ Kentucky Downs which is a tough track because of it's hills & valleys on the course. I happen to like #7 Gordon Pass.
