I usually am so balls into college football every year, but I can’t get into this one at all. Most of the matchups are trash and there are no players that are must watch TV. Anyone else feel the same?

Had coffee this morning with my old Vegas buddy, we’re both longtime vets in the game, and we couldn’t help but talk about how much things have changed. The excitement just isn’t there anymore. It’s all business now, all attitude, with these young kids acting like their stuff doesn’t stink. The soul of it is gone. It’s sad, really money and greed always seem to ruin what once made something special.
I’ve always been a sports bettor, but my life’s never been about chasing money. I’ve run and owned two successful businesses, and betting has always been something I did on the side because I love the numbers, the stats, the rhythm of it all. I’ve just always had a feel for it.
But the last few years? Especially in college football since NIL came into play it’s different. I get it, the kids deserve more than what they were getting. But when you see 18-year-olds signing multi-million dollar deals for their likeness, it changes the game. Their minds aren’t ready for that kind of success, that kind of pressure. And it shows. The purity, the hunger....it’s fading.

Great post. Think of this as well, with money involved now the smaller school teams really have no shot. At least before the competition was somewhat balanced.

From a sports bettors perspective..I dont see anything different than any other year, its CFB..these kids play their hearts out.
-play to win the game, if its all business..that makes it that much better. Numbers dont lie

I feel your pain as I feel the same way. There is no loyalty to your college anymore. It's "just show me the money and I will transfer." Does anyone get a degree anymore?
Do players really even go to class? Used to be if your GPA was under 2.0, you were suspended. Nowadays, you are suspended only if you commit a felony.
Players are now paid mercenaries selling themselves to the highest bidder. College football is now a minor league for the NFL Nothing more, nothing less.
College players can now use their NIL money to bet on pro games. How long will it be before there will be a scandal? Does anyone in his right mind not think, with all these crazy finishes to games that players are not controlling games and manipulating the point spreads to get an outcome that ensures a big payday on a bet?
College football as we knew it is dead. Sad. Very sad+

I miss the old school football. Both college and pro. It aint the same. I still love it, but not near as much. Baseball is even worse. Billioneers argueing with millioneers about who is gettin' scerwed. It's hard to stay interested.

More parity...less passion...for the most part...
I guess my Hoosiers have been losers since forever until last year, when Cignetti took over and that 80 yard march to beat Penn State with 2 minutes left was epic...I saw real intensity and passion there...
My biggest pet peeve with the NIL so far was when 19 year old fat and bearded Quinn Ewers was driving an Aston Martin around campus at UT, and he hadn't even started a game yet, and in his first start, his entitled ass illegally parked near DKR prior to the game, and he got towed, and then he was bitching and moaning about getting towed after a close win...Hell, some of these 5 stars are making more playing college ball then they would on a rookie contract drafted in rounds 4-7 or as a UFA...I bet my boy Quinn Ewers took a pay cut to continue his football career with the Miami Dolphins...
I do think that the Tr portal and the NIL have thrown an incremental wrinkle into trying to cap games, whether you are a dog player, fave player or both...![]()

For sure...all that bullshit was why I stopped betting NFL and started betting college.
