Darren Evans is out for the season witha torn ACL......... can you say "Alabama load the box and make Tyrod Taylor beat me".
 
Tough loss for them, hopefully the highly recruited FROSH RB can step in and help.
 
Best of luck to D.E. and hopefully he recovers

not good news for va tech backers, but thats what happens sometime when trying to buy in early - countin on the hokie D and ST to get me to the pay window

Another reason why I dont play lines this early. You never know whats going to happen 4 weeks out.

Teams are still trying out their players, decisions are still going to be made, and players can still get hurt...Ohio State LB for instance. 

Many of you who locked in plays 4 weeks early don't really understand why you did anyway, other than the fact you needed to lay a bet to calm your anticipation for the season. 

Relax...plenty of time.

I think you are way out of line. Every single game I bet, the line went in a strong way towards my side. (Troy, NCST, Mia) VT-up till now.
 
If you feel like a better man to tell me I'm a de-gen junkie, fine. But I think I know exactly why I bet what I did.
 
Yeah, I got screwed. But believe me, I am not sold that VT can't still be within 6 pts.

Bracks........ not  to worry..... Alabama has to prove it can score on VT.  VT recruited a stud backup (PS #47),,,,,,, also remember that Evans was a RFr last year who replaced a starter who went out with an injury....and he rushed for 1200 yds.   I think your bet is still safe.

Alabama will have one of the Best defenses if not the Best in the nation.  They will have a short field all night long against Tech, and last I remember, field goals even count for points.   But that won't be the case, Alabama's offense is alot better than most think and will show on Sept. 5th.  Taylor will be running for his life, I promise you that and Alabama has linebackers that will faster than he's ever seen. 
 
Conclusion
Alabama will roll Tech

licialen- Yes, I love the things I hear about Ryan Williams, but for the long haul, and I have a couple of bets on this team for th eyr, it was the 1-2 punch that is going to be missed.
 
grffy- Yes, we know, the real ? is how are they going to score. We just all think your offense is going to have a hard time. How dare we "under rate" your team. I'm glad there is someone else on this site that agrees with your team being #5 in the nation.
 
I'm also glad your plan is to have a short field and get FG. of course, they could get blocked or miss. That Ole Beamer, he knows how to score on ST

Not argueing that Bama won't have strong defense........but wondering with a "re-tooled  O-line", a new QB and a running game that struggled in last half of the season versus better defenses.....where's the O in Bama.......Beamer's O isn't going to overwhelm anybody but he knows how to play field position, ST and defense. This to me is still a close game........

well, in the first place, i am glad this happened right before i was about to bet VT...
 
but, in the second place... man any of you guys that suddenly think VT has no shot in this game... seriously, you guys don't know football...
 
Evans is a stud... but VT is more than Evans... plug just about any RB behind that line and he'll get yards... because that is what VT has always done... that is why every single year they have a RB that puts up 1200 yards and 16 TDs...
 
 
if they reopen this line over 7.5 i will still have to seriously consider VT...
 
this game is STILL about Alabama's offense against VT's defense when it is all said and done... and that matchup is still very very bad for Alabama...

That's the point I was making to anyone who believes the Bama will discover an O in this game. Bama's offense will ressemble the O the that struggled in its last 2 games.  Until its Qb gets his reps in, finds a second receiver and the O-line gets game experience...............

yep yep... no matter how highly recruited a QB is... he is not a game QB until he has played a game... and you never know what you are going to get, until he has played a game...

 

RB is a totally different story...

* Va tech can't move the ball on ANYBODY.......and hasn't in about 4 years ....they will just move it a little bit less ....assuming Williams stays healthy......the outcome on this game has not been effected.....hokies will play a (little bit)  harder now.....bama relax just (a little).....they were confident to begin with .....more so now......when line comes out at over 7....I will play hokies for sure......before wasn't gonna touch it......

* If hokies play well here ......will play against them HUGE.....next week at home vs Marshall (with Nebraska on deck)

* think i mentioned this in another thread........if star player is out......PLAY ON ....the 1st game......PLAY AGAINST the 2nd  ....

I would have been very surprised if Bama had scored over 10 points and had VT winning 17-24 to 6-10 range. Not sure about the side now, but will be all over the under once it is reposted...

It will be interesting to see what the line does. If by some chance it approaches 9 or 10 I will tease VT with 2 teams on a 3 team 10 pt teaser as Bama will still have tough sledding on offense and should not approach 20pts in my opinion...
