UGA Sitting Pretty One Less Game

UGA not having to play for Sec title in Atlanta but will be sitting in top 4 and get a bye in playoffs. Must be nice. If Bama loses to A&M in Atlanta will they bump them out with 3 losses, basically telling Bama you had your playoff chance already.

No they won't bump them out. If that was the case, Bama would be better to refuse to play in the game. Whats the bigger prize? SEC Championship or National Title?

Bama is OUT with 3 losses unless they win the SEC championship game. 

That makes zero sense. You are making an assumption on their 13th game while everyone else has only played 12.

They would def bump them out for a two loss Vandy or a two loss USC imo…Bama getting to play in the Sec title game is their playoff opportunity…they will extend an invite to somebody else if they have the credentials for their opportunity…

Sec is getting 5 teams in max….Uga, A&M, Ole Miss, and Ou for now are good to go….USC, Big 12 #2, Acc #2 are chomping at the bit if Bama and Vandy lose another

 Regardless everybody at the top is playing game #13 in conf title game with the winners getting a bye and still having to win 3 going forward…UGA is sitting in a spot where they don’t have to play in conf title game and will only have to play 3 games going forward…lol

 They will get bumped out of if either of those two teams finish with 2 losses and Bama loses a 3rd…also cant rule out Miami who won’t have to play for Acc title, the Acc runner up, or the Big 12 #2..lots of factors but not looking great for Bama tbh..you don’t get two chances which is what they would be given 

As for Vandy, Bama beating them in Tuscaloosa half a season ago doesnt move the needle much…I’d be surprised if Vandy goes 10-2 though…don’t be shocked if Kentucky plays out of their minds and gets them looking ahead to the Vols

If that is the case, teams will refuse to play in conference championship games. What's the point of playing in it and risking another loss and missing the Playoffs.

Wrong because they have to win one game which would ensure Bama not only a conference title but a better seed…getting in the playoffs means you have to win 4 games to win anything of note…not 1 game..or they can refuse to play and still be left out..however they choose…hahaha

Disagree. To win the national title you need to make the playoffs. Teams want in the playoffs. Especially in the Power 5 conferences. Sure the Conference title is nice, but the goal is to make the playoffs and then win a national title.

Winning a conference title is more important to the Group of 5 conferences.

 Yet only one can win it…just making playoffs does nothing…winning the Sec or Big Ten is much bigger than just making playoffs…I know teams want in…of course it’s going to be very rare to play in a conference title game and not make playoffs…but just might happen this year

Bottom line is that any and every team wants their season to extend as long as possible. Therefore given the choice of winning a conference championship and no trip to playoffs vs. trip to playoffs then any and every team is going to choose the latter.

then when cooler heads prevail they will realize a conference championship means much more than just an entry and exit in the playoffs…the top teams will make the playoffs more than they will win conference titles going forward…

2 teams win the Sec and Big Ten every year…6-8 will make playoffs…just making playoffs is nothing…But again enjoy the participation swag..really helped James Franklin with that final 4 run last year…that playoff run really helped him get off the hot seat…it really did wonders for Tennessee…smdh

I guess in your mind Oregon had a worse year than Penn St since they went one less round and ran into the Ohio St buzzsaw…nope…Oregon won the conference and Penn st won absolutely nothing! You either win something in life or you don’t. Nobody cares about losers, nobody cares about that pathetic Washington team that lost a few years back, nobody cares about all those bum Notre Dame teams, so and and so forth…just making playoffs fades faster than you think..real fast

 This isn’t the 70’s and 80’s who cares about conference championship bragging rights. That banter may go over well amongst fans of those teams but on the national viewership stage the public doesn’t care and will be tuned into the playoffs. In your Oregon/PSU scenario that may matter more to Oregon but I had no idea they won the conference last year but I do know PSU was 3 points away from playing in the national championship game.

Cool story…if that mattered then Penn St would still have a coach since that season went so well…bet they will have that team back for years to come and laude them with affection…again, for the simpletons…

National Title-Conference Title-Playoff Appearance…in that order…Friggen win something

also the playoffs now is like basketball, more about the road you get than how actual good you are…the name of game was stay away from Ohio St as long as you could…Penn st was never a top 4 team, they were playing a losing game

you go one round further in basketball and you think that means you had a better overall season than a higher seed or conference champion..nope..stupid to think that way

 I think we’re debating 2 different things I’m referring to public sentiment only. The watchers, those not affiliated with said schools. As far as Franklin it was too little too late. It’s gotten past the point of anything mattering anymore though. In all sports coaches have/are getting axed not long after having won championships. Several in NBA and some college football coaches lately. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dabo isn’t at Clemson much longer.

 I believe if he had won the Big Ten title that would have extended him another year into 2026 as a make it or break it..firing a coach half way through a season after a Big Ten title and appearance in semis would have been something but since he didnt win anything of note they easily canned him..Dabo may get sick of Clemson and leave before they move on from him..not sure what a school like that thinks they would get..but not my decision
