You both are right. CFP had stated that they wanted to put the 12 best teams in the playoffs. They also as stated did set certain rules. You could also include BYU, UTAH and Vanderbilt as being much more up to the task. In one game elimination there is always the chance that either team could win. NCAA March Madness is proof of this. Look at what Alabama did. No one had done that in the CFP.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but it was only ONE automatic bid required for the special Olympic conferences right? It was the highest ranked team from the scrub conference that got the auto bid. So how the hell did we land on TWO this year? JMU - Tulane, debate how you want. One gets in to to get smashed, the other is at the Idaho Potato bowl. So how did one of these teams get in over a Notre Dame, BYU, Utah?

yep…Right now that would be Indiana, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas Tech….Those are the only teams that have a legitimate chance to win the NC!

it is the 5 highest ranked conference champ's. in a normal year the acc champ would be one of those 5 automatic bids. 5 loss duke won the acc championship tho...
