with 50 seconds left he didnt have to run another play.  when there was 25 seconds left the team was actually hurrying to get another play off, the one which they scored the td on.  Stanford beat them last year so you cant even say this score was about some revenge.

This was just plain cheating by Harbaugh.  Really the ncca and FBI need to look into this guys actions.  Why would he risk a fumble and maybe losing the game to score another td, that they didnt need? Thats the only question that needs to be asked.  If his player fumbles and san jose picks it up and runs it back for a td, stanford loses.  Why take that risk?  Am still sitting at my computer steaming about this.

Harbaugh NEEDS to be investigated for this ending.  Like everyone else here, I had San Jose St. +8, and figured Stanford would just take a knee and end the game.  Couldn't believe they ran that play and scored a TD!  Absolutely sickening!

You guys are delusional because you're all on sjsu... Stanford is a team desperate to make a name for itself in the Pac-10... theyve lost two in a row and are down 10-0 against no name san jose state. They've got big games (for them) down the road in the season against USC, Oregon, and Cal. Harbaugh and staff were pissed about his team's last two games and at half time i am certain that he was furious that they let sjsu get up 10-0 at a night game IN STANFORD. Harbaugh is supposed to be reviving this program and here he is in his third year on the verge of going 1-3 and losing to SJSU. SJSU may be good but they are a joke team to not blow out if you want to be a pac 10 contendor like stanford does. Plus, what do you think the kids at Cal and USC think when they see a 16-10 scoreline against san jose state, not to mention the recruits that stanford is trying to lure away from those schools. Harbaugh knew all this; i really doubt he was trying to cover. This is just coming from a neutral observer, I didn't bet this game.

No offense, but I think your point is delusional. The game was a 6 point game with 9 seconds left. You never take even the smallest risk of losing a game just to score an extra TD. Forget the fact that a lot of people bet on SJ. The game was over an no play had to be run. The most important thing is a WIN. Instead of taking the sure thing, Harbaugh had his team hurry to the line of scrimmage and put his team at risk and decided to run another play which wasn't required. Whether it was to run up the score or cover the spread, doesn't change the reality. He put his team at risk for no legitimate reason. It has no effect on the standings, tiebreakers or anything else. What would your reaction have been if SJ stripped the ball carrier on the last play and returned it 98 yards for a TD and SJ would've won the game 17-16. If that occurred, everyone including you would say it was the single stupidest play call in your lifetime. The fact that it didn't happen doesn't change the fact that it was completely asinine. And for those who say it never would happen that a guy would fumble and have it returned for a TD, remember one name: PISARCIK!

if sjsu were any other team, would have been different.  he didn't say it but of course he wanted to stick it to them.  they share the same backyard.  and the alumni were loving it, trust me.  sjsu is inferior and they deserve to be treated as such, at least in the mind of the tree people.  if it was sdsu he takes a knee.
