Bama and Why

Gotta love Bowl season.   Let's look at some numbers:

-2   Ala.   67 12 9 3

    Okl.   88 9 13 10    

Line opened at -2 for Bama (madduxsports.com) and currently it's -1 for Okl.   Bama's is better in Total off at 67 vs 88; Okla.  is slightly better in Total def at 8 vs 12;  Bama is better in Sagarin rank at 9 vs 13 and better in sched strength at 3 vs 10.     

What's it all mean - nothing until you compare it to prev games where the away team opened up as a 2 pt fav and you have history to refer to.  Oklahoma is playing at home, however, the data I collect indicates take the away team as they should come out on top.

Good stat comparison, Buddah. I'm thinking Sooners get stuffed on the run offense. Under 20.5 TT Sooners is appealing now.

 I would assume that's figured in by sagarin and also reflected in the total off total def stats (somewhat since it's only 1 game); however, the other key thing is the opening line-it opened at -2 for Bama - we don't know the exact reasoning for what goes into the opening line but there's a reason it opened at-2 for bama.    I just use the data in front of me to help make decisions.
