Getting an early-ish one in here as this line is moving.
Texas +3 -130
appreciate your insights as always. I know you really focus in on the Big Ten. Curious though, do you ever find yourself picking Ohio State? Just feels like you leaned against them quite a bit last season, but maybe I’m remembering wrong. Genuinely interested in your perspective.

Did I? I’ll have to look back. I picked against them vs Texas in the cotton bowl and said at that time it would probably be worth betting the buckeyes in a look ahead line vs ND if you liked them to beat Texas…. It’s just matchups.
Im probably biased against them naturally because I’m a Michigan guy but that likely just results in me losing which isn’t my goal here. I’m not like most UM fans who despise them - I like watching good football and they’ve got Sunday talent year in and year out.
The reason I’m picking Texas here is because I think they should be favored and there is much more stability week 1. The buckeyes are coming off a title, lose their QB, top 2 RBs, plethora of defensive starters and maybe most importantly replacing 2 coordinators.
I don’t think the drop off will be as significant as what Michigan just had a year ago because something tells me with that receiver core they may do a little better than bottom 5 in passing numbers. But there’s a lot of new pieces to iron out for OSU and it needs to come together extremely quick.
Going off of the end of 24/25 numbers I would make OSU about a 2.5 point favorite in this game on a neutral field. So with all of these changes for the Buckeyes I just think this line is wrong. Would be a very impressive win for them to open the season but I really like the Horns here.

Prop of the week for week 1
Marlin Klein (Mich) over 19.5 yards receiving (FanDuel)
I try to do one prop a week, a lot of the time it’s UM games because I feel like it’s the team I know best. Last year was terrible at best with these because there was literally no offensive threat at the QB position. I’ll get more into my UM thoughts before week 1, but ultimately think Bryce is the real deal. The threat of a forward pass is back at a minimum and I think Marlin Klein is in for a big season as typical for a Michigan TE. Gotta give the freshman QB some easy throws and I think Klein benefits from that big time. Can probably go with some + money alternates on this too as he should be the lead option for targets at the position.

Half unit future free bet on my Wolverines 35/1.
Schedule sets up nice this year to at least make the dance. Top 10 defense - lost the stars in the middle but the depth is way better up front and they won’t be on the field the entire game this year. The last 3 games - NW, Ohio State, Alabama - this was the nations #1 defense. Very good at LB and secondary.
Offensively the team can’t be worse. They were bottom 10 in first downs and offensive snaps per game. Throwing the ball they were better than ONLY the academies and Iowa. Two very good backs. Bryce will have his freshman struggles no doubt but if he’s just average this team will have a chance to win every time out. I’m a believer that he can do better than last years QB production of 11 TDs and 13 INTs. 8-5 team against a schedule that included Alabama, OSU, Texas, Oregon, @UW, Indiana.

Woah Nelly Arch… that was rough. Outgain a team by 130 yards, while holding them to 14 points and we can’t even cover 3. Anywho… I have one add tonight
Clemson -4.5
The SEC is concerning.

You notice that too? " The SEC is concerning" ... I have no animosity toward SEC but the pendulum has swung hard enough the other way that at least people are no longer being abusive to posters who side against an SEC team.....which is healthy
A strong SEC is good for college football and maybe a dominant one 5-10 years ago lead to all of the changes we have now that level the playing field a little better
I know you didn't win your Clemson play, but acknowledge LSU was a joy to watch and I think Clemson are strong too.....it just didn't click and LSU outplayed them a little
