1* Georgetown +5.5
I think the wrong team may be favored here. Maryland may be without Myles Rice (GTD), who didn't play in their opener vs Coppin St either. Georgetown has dudes. Malik Mack is back to run things at PG, and they brought in stud transfer KJ Lewis from Arizona. This is Buzz Williams first test at Maryland, and I don't think he has the same quality of players as Coach Cooley has. I wouldn't be shocked to see them come out of College Park with a W.
2* Furman Paladins -2.5
Furman is coming off an embarrassing effort vs High Point, where they turned the ball over 22 times, and only shot 26% from 3. But they did dominate the glass in that game, and I think that's the edge tonight. Troy doesn't have the size to battle on the boards with the two 7 footers Furman has. Not to mention they just won a BIG game at Kent St in OT. Regression spot, and I think the line is telling us that. Also, Furman is opening their new arena, so the place should be nuts.
1* North Carolina Tar Heels -2.5
Looks like a homer bet, I get it. But I think UNC needs this win so much more than KU does. Big 12 is loaded with quad 1 win opportunities, and the ACC is not. The best player on the floor will be in a KU jersey, but Caleb Wilson has shown that he is capable of being the guy. I think Joe Public sees KU as a dog and having Peterson (who has experienced cramping issues in every game including exhibitions this year, keep an eye on that) and auto plays the Jayhawks. The Dean Dome will be loud with 22k crazies, and KU plays 3 freshman. Not a good combo.
3* Kent St Golden Flashes -5
No way that Kent St loses two games at home in a row. Troy is a very formidable opponent, so the loss isn't terrible, but I promise it left a terrible taste in Coach Senderhoffs mouth. Cornell hasn't played a game yet, so not a lot to know, but they lost over half of their offensive production from a year ago, so they have a lot of question marks to be answered. The Flashes, much like Auburn last night, will get the wake up call and I don't think this game is in the single digits.
1* UC-Irvine Anteaters -8.5
Yes, Irvine lost 4 starters from last years 32 win team, but they return the one, and 5 others who contributed off the bench. They have a plethora of guards that can shoot, and while they don't have much of an inside game on offense, their bigs protect the rim well on the other end, which is extremely valuable. Cal Baptist
1* McNeese St Cowboys +6.5
Got another game where I think the wrong team is favored. Yes, Will Wade left for the NC State job, but Bill Armstrong takes over at McNeese and he is no slouch. He's been with Wade since LSU, and coached Link Academy here in Missouri to a high school National Championship. The guy has plenty of coaching experience. He gets two starters back from last years team that beat Clemson in the first round of the NCAA tournament. I love this roster, a whole heck of a lot more than a Santa Clara team that is looking to replace the entire starting 5. ML is certainly live here.
Great night of hoops. Enjoy everyone.
