WrestleMania 40 matchups and analysis

Cody Rhodes (-425) vs. Roman Reigns (+265)

It took a long time to get here, but Rhodes vs. Reigns II is officially set to headline Mania. WWE looked to be going in the direction of Reigns vs. Rock, but fan outcry made the company switch plans and put Cody back in the main event where he deserved to be.

One can only assume Cody will finally finish his story and win the WWE title, where Roman Reigns can then go on to feud with The Rock as they headline WrestleMania 41.

Drew McIntyre (-650) vs Seth Rollins (+375)

It's hard to argue that Drew McIntyre isn't on the best run of his career right now as the menacing heel, and a Chamber win has painted his road to WrestleMania. Drew hasn't won a world title since he did so in front of no fans due to COVID-19 back in 2020, but now he has a shot to do it against Seth "Freakin" Rollins.

The only thing to watch out for regarding these odds is McIntyre's contract status, but his odds moving from -300 to -800 means he's most likely staying with WWE as he's ben prominent on Monday Night Raw for the entirety of the WM40 buildup.

Bayley (-700) vs Iyo Sky (+400)

Damage CTRL turning on Bayley was hinted for months, and when it finally happened fans were all in on the hugger winning the title. Her odds have dropped from -1,250, but she's still holding strong at -900 to win the Smackdown Women's Championship.

Rhea Ripley (-500) vs Becky Lynch (+300)

Rhea Ripley was shot to the moon in 2023, setting a record for the longest time spent in a Women’s Rumble match, before heading to WM39 and defeating Charlotte Flair for the Women’s Raw title in what many called the best Women’s match of all time. Her reign has been somewhat underwhelming with very few opponents actually looking like they had a legitimate chance to beat Rhea, but that’s where Becky Lynch comes in.

Becky is one of the most popular superstars in the WWE, and although she failed to win the Rumble, she was able to outlast six other women to pick up the Elimination Chamber win. Odds currently have Rhea favored to retain at WM40, with steam on Rhea moving her from -400 to -500.

Roman Reigns & The Rock (-700) vs Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins (+400)

To say this is the biggest tag team match in WrestleMania history would not be an understatement. The Rock put out a challenge to Cody and Seth with lots of implications for Night 2. If Rock and Roman win, Cody's match with Roman becomes "Bloodline Rules." However, if Rhodes wins, he'll get Reigns one-on-one for the belt with no interference.

It adds plenty of intrigue to Rock's first real match since WM 28, but with WWE loving the shenanigans, Reigns and Rock being favored is no surprise as the fans will be treated to all the stops in Sunday's main event.

Logan Paul (-450) vs Randy Orton (+425) vs Kevin Owens (+400)

After Logan has spent weeks on TV complaining about not having a WrestleMania opponent, he now has two in Randy Orton and Kevin Owens. KO has been feuding with Paul for months now while Logan recently cost Orton the win in the Elimination Chamber. With SummerSlam taking place in Logan Paul's home state of Ohio, he's likely to hold on to the U.S. Championship until then which is why he's so heavily favored here.

Jey Uso (-250) vs Jimmy Uso (+170)

Yeet vs. No Yeet! "Main event" Jey Uso has truly evolved into a star since moving to RAW, and after Jimmy has cost him opportunity after opportunity, it's time for Jey to get revenge on his brother. Although with that said, Jey is now just -300 after opening up at -1,000. The reasoning for the drastic change may be because WWE is looking to extend this feud further and will give Jimmy the upper hand.

Gunther (-300) vs Sami Zayn (+200)

It's not the wrestler fans wanted to see face Gunther, but Sami Zayn will certainly put on a show against the "Ring General." Gunther is in the midst of the longest IC title reign in history, and with WWE set to go on a European tour soon after Mania season, we're unlikely to see him get pinned until Bash in Berlin this August.

Keep an eye on these odds however as Zayn is seemingly going into a story where Chad Gable is training him for this match. If there are any hints of Sami turning heel, these odds could swing quickly.

LA Knight (-600) vs AJ Styles (+350)

Let me talk to ya! LA Knight and AJ Styles have been feuding ever since Styles bashed Knight into pieces with a chair at Elimination Chamber, and this match was made official on Smackdown. This is just a way to get the uber-popular Knight on the card against a credible opponent like Styles who he can get a win over. Knight will pin styles 1-2-3 and end the match WITH EVERYBODY SAYING "L-A KNIGHT, YEAH,"!

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi (-2,000) vs Dakota Kai, Asuka, Kairi Sane (+700)

This is the most predictable match on the card and the odds fully put that on display. Cargill signed to the WWE in 2023 and has made one in-ring appearance (Royal Rumble 2024) so this is her chance to show off what she can do. If the Kabuki Warriors' titles were on the line there might be some form of unpredictability, but there is no shot Jade doesn't walk out with the win here.

Dominik Mysterio and Santos Escobar (-250) vs Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee (+170)

After taking one another on at last year's Mania, father and son Rey and Dom will face off once again — but this time with partners. This is the match that probably has the best chance of an upset. WWE may give the win to Escobar and Dom to keep the rivalry going, but the company thinks highly of Dragon Lee and might not want him to lose in his WrestleMania debut.

Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits (-200) vs The Final Testament (+150)

This feud has been going on for much too long and fans will finally get the blow-off match in a Philadelphia Street Fight. Lashley and the Profits are favored here to win simply to make the crowd happy.
