Side analysis
Spurs enter Saturday's match as formidable favorites. Antonio Conte's side remains unbeaten through two games thanks to a last-gasp Harry Kane equalizer at Stamford Bridge. They've taken four from a possible six points and have scored six goals, the most in the top flight along with Manchester City, Brentford, and Arsenal.
Conte will be absent from the touchline after receiving a red card, thanks to his altercation with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. Conte, who barks orders and gesticulates more than an over-stimulated pantomime, is one of the most hands-on managers in the top flight.
His absence would ordinarily hamper Spurs' ability to win. However, Conte has instilled a heightened self-belief in his players, a level of confidence impervious to recent developments that would have once derailed the side.
Spurs have scored at least two goals in 12 of its previous 15 home matches. Tottenham has scored 11 goals in its last four home encounters dating back to last season, eight of which came from Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Dejan Kulusevski. Tottenham's terrifying triumvirate is the most dynamic in the top flight.
Kane and Son combined for 40 goals last season, while Kulusevski added eight goals and five assists in just 18 appearances. The threesome has started the 2022-23 campaign where they left off last season, with two goals and two assists between them in as many starts.
Spurs will have to make do without Cristian Romero, who sustained a muscle injury in the 2-2 draw at Chelsea. While Romero is a crucial member of Tottenham's rearguard, his absence shouldn't prevent Conte's side from taking all three points, especially with the news that Raul Jimenez is also unavailable.
Jimenez was Wolves' leading scorer last season and is the club's primary offensive threat. Hwang Hee-Chan will be expected to step up in the Mexican's absence, but not having Jimenez severely damages Wolves' goal-scoring prowess. Joao Moutinho's status is also uncertain, and the Portuguese playmaker's fitness will be assessed on Friday.
Wolves signed Matheus Nunes on Wednesday from Sporting Lisbon for a club-record $45 million. The move should buoy Wolves and help with their offensive insipidness. However, while he'll join the club for Saturday's contest, he probably won't start.
Wolves won on their last visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a 2-0 result that occurred on Feb. 13. However, Tottenham won't let that happen in consecutive matches. Look for Spurs to win while keeping a clean sheet in the process.
Prediction: Tottenham (-256 at BetMGM)
Over/Under analysis
Tottenham has conceded just eight goals in its last 13 matches, a run that includes six clean sheets. Spurs' defensive stinginess extends to their home patch, where they've allowed five goals in eight previous games.
Wolves are without their most prolific goalscorer and possibly their creative maestro. They've only scored one goal in two matches and have netted six in their previous eight road games dating back to last season.
Take the Under in this one, and don't look back.
Prediction: Under 2.5 (+105 at BetMGM)
Best bet
Considering all variables, Spurs should pick up their first clean sheet of the season. While Romero's absence creates a gulf at the back, Tottenham should have enough depth to handle an anemic Wolves' attack.
Tottenham is one of the most explosive home teams in the top flight and won't be denied against a side lacking confidence. If you're feeling bold, consider locking in a 2-0 Tottenham win, as that result offers +575 odds at BetMGM.
Pick: Tottenham to win and Wolves not to score (+120 at BetMGM)
