Sunday will see a clash of two Premier League heavyweights as Tottenham play host to Liverpool. Spurs are hoping to continue to keep pace with Arsenal and Manchester City atop the league table, while Liverpool hope to head into the World Cup break with some positive momentum.

Both teams come into the game with injury concerns, making the tactical decisions for this match quite intriguing. We break them down in our Tottenham vs. Liverpool picks and predictions for Sunday, November 6.

Tottenham vs Liverpool picks and predictions

Tottenham fans feared the worst regarding the status of Heung-Min Son, and it came to fruition after it was announced he suffered a fractured eye socket in their 2-1 win over Marseille on Tuesday. The forward will require surgery and could miss out on the upcoming World Cup with the Korean Republic.

In addition, forward Richarlison is out with a strained muscle and isn’t expected to go. Thankfully, they can breathe a bit easier with the news that Dejan Kulusevski will return to the lineup on Sunday, having not featured for the side since getting injured in late September. While it could be too soon for him to feature, it gives them another creative playmaker in attack to go along with Harry Kane.

But even without that creativity up top, they’re still managing to get goals and results. Spurs have scored in all but one of their 13 Premier League matches this season, with only Manchester United shutting them out at Old Trafford. They’ve also kept just four clean sheets this season, with three of those four opponents being in or near the relegation zone.

That’s not going to be the case with Liverpool. While the Reds aren’t putting up gaudy numbers as they did last season, they’ve only been held scoreless twice this season. Mohamed Salah also appears to have rediscovered his scoring form, with goals in each of his last three starts.

Both of these teams need a result for different reasons. Liverpool are hoping to remain within touching distance of a Champions League spot, while Spurs need a win to keep pace with the top two teams in the table. As such, I see both teams pushing forward for goals.

In the last five meetings on Spurs’ home ground against Liverpool in the Premier League, both teams have found the back of the net four times. Those four matches also saw a total of at least three goals scored. Bank on the same combination taking place on Sunday, as we see an entertaining match between two teams with dangerous attacks and few clean sheets between them.

With how sloppy and nasty the conditions will be tomorrow, it won’t take much for mistakes to lead to goals and perhaps a penalty or two.

My best bet: Both teams to score and Over 2.5 goals (-115 at FanDuel)

Tottenham vs Liverpool side analysis

Liverpool have been favored since the line came out last weekend, although early money began coming in on the draw. However, the news of Son’s injury swung the public back towards Liverpool, who are favored but are still getting plus-odds.

Despite being the betting chalk, Liverpool have yet to win on the road in the Premier League this season. Through five attempts, they’ve drawn twice and lost three, with two of those defeats coming at fellow Big Six clubs United and Arsenal.

Spurs lost 2-1 last weekend to Newcastle, their first home defeat in the league all season. It was the first time they so much as dropped a point, winning their first five at home by a combined score of 15-4. However, it's important to note that just one of those matches came against a team residing in the top half of the table entering the weekend.

Liverpool have won four of the last five meetings between these two teams on the road in all competitions, with a 2-2 draw last season. Overall, the last two meetings were draws, with Liverpool winning the previous four. Liverpool have either won or drawn in the last 10 meetings across all competitions.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Over/Under analysis

Spurs have kept just two clean sheets in their six home matches this season. The Total has gone over 2.5 in their last two matches overall in the Premier League and in seven of their 13 matches this season.

In Liverpool’s five road matches this season, they’ve been held scoreless twice while keeping just one clean sheet. In those matches, three or more goals were scored three times. Overall, three of their last four matches ended with just one goal scored total, and it would’ve been four straight if not for Leeds scoring at the death last week.

Three of the last four meetings between these two clubs have seen at least three goals scored, and four of the last five meetings in the Premier League at Tottenham have gone Over the 2.5 goals mark. That’s why some books have the total at either 2.75 or 3.0, with Over 2.5 being favored everywhere else.

Tottenham vs Liverpool weather

Fans better pack a poncho for this one. It’s going to be raining in London all morning and afternoon, with temperatures feeling like they’re in the mid-40s on Sunday. Wind gusts will also be in the 20 mph range and could impact play.
