There was still the FA Cup dream but following a 1-0 defeat to Man City in the semi-final last weekend, they then got thrashed 5-0 by Arsenal. It gives the impression they now know their season is over and they’ve lost heart, something further shown by Enzo Fernandez deciding to get an operation now with nothing to play for.
An unmotivated Chelsea team, playing on the road and with many injuries. That’s music to the ears of Unai Emery and his Aston Villa team that's really excelling this season, something that saw Emery get a contract extension midweek.
They’ve lost just one of their previous six Premier League games and that came against Man City. They’ve won two on the bounce domestically, including an incredible performance in beating Arsenal 2-0 and denting their title hopes.
This Aston Villa side is very good, excellently coached, and getting the very best out of its players. Only three teams in the Premier League have outscored them this season.
Ollie Watkins is again looking likely to hit 20+ Premier League goals, Douglas Luiz has become one of the league’s best midfielders, and Leon Bailey is finally finding the form that saw him earn a transfer to the Premier League.
Aston Villa are a team on the up and getting plus money on them feels like a real win for the bettor.
