Rangers vs Golden Knights Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Goalies Over-Whelmed?

The Golden Knights and Rangers have both been bleeding goals of late, and even with Igor Shesterkin in nets, our NHL picks think that trend will continue. Find out why as we break down tonight's matchup.

The New York Rangers and Vegas Golden Knights are both coming off pretty big wins for their respective teams.

The Rangers have been having a ton of controversy lately, with speculation abound as to what’s wrong with a team that’s clearly not living up to expectations. The Golden Knights are on the opposite trajectory of the Rangers, as they are having a much better season this year as opposed to last year.

Igor Shesterkin and Logan Thompson haven’t been at their best lately, and we could see some goal-scoring down in Sin City tonight.

Rangers vs Golden Knights picks and predictions

The New York Rangers finally found their scoring touch in their previous game when they absolutely exploded offensively against the Blues thanks to some mid-game line changes. They have been looking for a spark for the last month or so, and they may have found it with Alexis Lafreniere playing on the line with Mika Zibanejad and Kaapo Kakko

The Vegas Golden Knights are now the only team that has beaten the Bruins at TD Garden this season and are coming home feeling really good about themselves. They have been one of the better offensive teams in the league this season, scoring 3.41 goals per game, and they were pretty successful in the goal-scoring department during their road trip. Tonight, they will face a struggling Igor Shesterkin, who is coming off of a performance where he allowed four goals on 29 shots. He has now allowed 15 goals against in his last five starts.

Vegas has gotten some strong goaltending this season from Logan Thompson and Adin Hill, but things have been pretty ugly for them lately on home ice. The Golden Knights have allowed 10 goals against in their previous three home games and their record at the fortress isn’t all that impressive (7-5-0).

The Rangers have been very sloppy in their defensive zone, giving up 12 goals in their last three games, but at least they may have found a spark offensively. Now they just need to remain consistent to turn their season around and they know how big this game is.

Both teams had the scoring touch in their previous game, and I think they will continue that tonight. I like the Over and the value on it.

My best bet: Over 6.5 (+100 at BetMGM)

Rangers vs Golden Knights moneyline analysis

The Rangers may have won their previous game, but there are still a ton of question marks about this team right now. On top of that, they haven’t had the best of luck against Vegas in their recent history. The Golden Knights have won six out of the last seven battles between these two teams and are hoping to continue that trend.

Vegas has had a relatively consistent season thus far thanks to their goaltending and the resurgence of Jack Eichel, who is questionable for this game. Vegas does have some injury issues at the moment, but it hasn’t really affected their play on the ice drastically.

The Golden Knights have been the much more reliable team as of late, the Rangers haven’t been able to find any consistency in their game, and Shesterkin hasn’t been stealing games for them. It’s tough to back them right now. The Golden Knights should win.

Rangers vs Golden Knights Over/Under analysis

The Rangers and Golden Knights both have some offensive firepower and one thing they have in common lately has been inconsistent goaltending.

Lafreniere and Kakko seemed to have had some extra jump in their step after they were promoted to the first line in the last game, having these three together could be the answer that the Rangers have been searching for.

Vegas hasn’t had any issues putting the puck in the back of the net all season long, and with the way the Rangers have been playing defensively, they should be able to get their fair share of opportunities tonight as well.

Given where both teams are right now, this game could be absolute chaos in the most fun kind of way. I think this will be a fun one with a ton of scoring.
