Oilers vs Wild Odds, Picks, and Predictions Tonight: Minnesota's Not Nice to Edmonton

With the Oilers playing for the second straight night — and the fourth time in six days — exhaustion could be setting in against a rested and potent Wild attack. Our betting picks consider these two robust offenses in what should be a fun game.

The Edmonton Oilers have had a tough stretch of hockey lately and this is going to be their fourth game in six nights, which means we might see some tired legs.

The Minnesota Wild have been playing very well recently, winning three out of their last four contests.

Everyone around the game of hockey loves to talk about how good Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are together, but Kirill Kaprizov and Mats Zuccarello quietly form one of the league’s best dynamic duos as well.

The Oilers have not had the best of luck against the Wild in recent history, in fact, their last win against Minnesota came back in 2019, and our NHL betting picks break down their chances at bucking that trend.

Oilers vs Wild picks and predictions

The Minnesota Wild should be fairly well-rested coming into this contest since they haven’t played a game in three nights.

Aside from being tired, the main concern going into this game will be Edmonton’s goaltending. Stuart Skinner started last night against the Blackhawks, which means it is more than likely that Jack Campbell will be in the blue paint tonight.

Campbell is off to a dreadful start this season, entering this contest with a record of 7-5-0, but his numbers are absolutely horrendous as he is sporting a .875 save percentage and a 4.04 goals-against average. The lack of goaltending has been a constant theme for the Oilers over the past few seasons and a rested Wild team can really take advantage.

The Wild are starting to heat up and the one area of their game that is particularly buzzing is their power play. They have scored goals on the man advantage in three straight games, converting on four out of their last 10 attempts.

As a team, the Wild have really picked up their defensive play as well. They now have the 11th-best goals-against average, letting up 2.90 goals per game. Marc-Andre Fleury will be in the cage tonight and his game has also picked up.

The Oilers have a ton of top-end talent, but the Wild have more depth and that will make the difference tonight. I think the Wild will win and I like the value on them getting it done in regulation.

My best bet: Wild 3-way moneyline (+105 at BetMGM)

Oilers vs Wild moneyline analysis

There is no denying the fact that the Oilers are a scary team, but when Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl aren’t on the ice, this isn’t an imposing attack at all. That being said, the Oilers did completely dominate the Blackhawks last night, but that isn’t saying much since they are a very weak opponent.

The Wild have a ton of depth on their roster, which makes them more dangerous than the Oilers on the whole. Kirill Kaprizov is a superstar and there is no debating that, but they also have other talented guys including — but not limited to — Matt Boldy, Mats Zuccarello, and Joel Eriksson Ek

The Wild’s power play should also set them apart since Edmonton has one of the weaker penalty-killing units in the league.

For me, it’s simple. The amount of hockey the Oilers have played is bound to catch up to them and the Wild will take advantage of it.

Oilers vs Wild Over/Under analysis

I expect this game to be pretty wide-open and back and forth. Neither team is necessarily defensively minded, which makes me think that this game will have a ton of goals.

Also, it should be pointed out that neither goaltender has really stood on their head this season, so I don’t think Campbell or Fleury will steal the game.

The Oilers and Wild are both very strong on the power play so if they get their chances, they should be able to convert. I think we’ll see a fun barn burner.
