Latest NHL MVP odds update
4/10/2024: Hats off to Nikita Kucherov, who was essentially stuck in the No. 2 spot on the odds board behind the likes of Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, and even Auston Matthews. He may win the Art Ross, but the odds are indicating this award is heading Nate's way. Even a 70-goal season is unlikely to land Matthews the Hart.
Previous NHL MVP betting action
4/3/2024: MacKinnon's odds continue to shorten as the season comes to a close. He and Kucherov are still tied for first in points, but it's clear how much MacKinnon means to the Avalanche's success. McDavid is right in the mix and could still do enough to surpass Nate, although it seems like this is his award to lose.
3/27/2024: With MacKinnon and Kucherov still neck-and-neck for the Art Ross, books have given a massive edge to the Avalanche superstar with his team in a much better position. Connor McDavid is still lingering in the Top 3 as he approaches 100 assists on the year while Auston Matthews' Leafs have struggled against the East's elite in his chase for 70 goals.
3/13/2024: MacKinnon took over the top spot and hasn't taken his foot off the gas, now trading for minus money while six points ahead of Nikita Kucherov for points leader. Matthews' goal rut has him as long as +470 at FanDuel, where even Connor McDavid (+410) is ahead of him. McDavid is still 10 points behind Nate for tops in the NHL, but if he somehow catches up to him then we could see the Oilers' superstar creep closer to the favorite spot.
3/6/2024: As quickly as AM34 took over the top spot on the odds board, he lost it. MacKinnon is on a tear once again and is now tied with Nikita Kucherov (+300) for the league lead in points at 105. Connor McDavid (+370) is also in the mix as he still has three games in hand over Nate and Kucherov. This market is highly active as these four juggernauts battle it out for MVP honors. A Matthews hat trick could have him right back on top just the same as a multi-point night from MacKinnon could keep him there.
2/28/2024: It happened faster than expected, but Auston Matthews has officially become the favorite to win the Hart Trophy. He was +1,600 just two weeks ago, but the books have seen enough. With that said, this is still very much a four-man race. Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Nikita Kucherov are all within striking distance as they battle it out for the league lead in points.
2/21/2024: Remember when I said to keep an eye on Auston Matthews at +1,600? Well, AM34 must have taken that price personally as he rattled off back-to-back hat tricks and now sits with +450 odds to win MVP. Matthews has 49 goals in 53 games, his Leafs have won eight of 10, and it looks like 70 goals is going to happen for the Toronto sniper. Matthews' play has also had a big impact on MacKinnon, who went from -105 to +175.
2/14/2024: Nathan MacKinnon is still trading at minus money, but Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid are closing in. McDavid's six assists against the Red Wings moved his odds nearly 100 points, while Kuch continues to slowly creep closer the longer he holds on to the scoring title. If the Leafs can start winning, keep an eye on Auston Matthews' odds of +1,600 as well.
2/7/2024: With the NHL coming out of the All-Star break, the MVP odds saw no movement as teams come back from vacation. Nathan MacKinnon is still trading for minus money across the board, with Kucherov and McDavid a distant second and third.
1/31/2024: The writing was on the wall and now it's official, Nathan MacKinnon is minus money to take home his first MVP award. Nate the Great has a ridiculous 84 points in 49 games and would be miles ahead of the rest of the league if not for Nikita Kucherov (+300) having an equally-insane season. Connor McDavid's "off year" of 67 points in 43 games has him in the No.3 spot, but it's hard to imagine him catching up to MacKinnon and Kuch.
1/24/2024: For the third-straight week, Nathan MacKinnon's odds shortened even further, with him now sitting as short +120. MacKinnon has 77 points in 47 games, and him and Nikita Kucherov are neck-and-neck atop the points leaders. Speaking of Kuch, DraftKings has bumped him into the No. 2 spot above McDavid, although most other books still have 97 slotted in that spot as his team looks to set the all-time win streak record.
1/17/2024: Nathan MacKinnon's MVP odds continue to shorten, with the Colorado superstar now going as short as +175. An 11-game win streak has also kept Connor McDavid in the No. 2 spot, while Nikita Kucherov isn't far behind. However his odds seemed to stay put for the most part as MacKinnon and McDavid pulled ahead.
1/10/2024: It's hard to imagine Nathan MacKinnon is yet to win an MVP, but he finds himself in prime position to land his first one with 66 points through 41 games. Nate is now tied for the best odds with Connor McDavid, and has even eclipsed the Oilers' superstar at SIA. Nikita Kucherov has remained near the top all season, but it seems these three skaters are starting to pull away from the pack.
1/3/2024: A five-point night against the Philadelphia Flyers has kept McDavid at the top of the odds board, but Nathan MacKinnon is showing no signs of slowing down. His odds shortened even further to +380, and although he lost his 19-game point streak, it didn't take him long to start a new one. Nikita Kucherov is still in the No. 2 slot, but the gap in odds between him and Nate continues to inch closer and closer. It's no surprise all three of these superstars are in the Top 3 in points up to this point.
12/26/2023: Welcome to the Top 3 Nathan MacKinnon. Nate headed into the holiday break on an 18-game point streak in which he's registered 34 points — highlighted by a four-goal outing against Ottawa. This run has his odds as short as +400 and three points back of Nikita Kucherov (+375) for the league lead in points. As for Connor McDavid, he continues to just enough for the books to keep on the top.
12/19/2023: Connor McDavid will head into the Christmas break as the MVP favorite, although players like Nikita Kucherov, David Pastrnak, and even Nathan MacKinnon will make for an interesting second half of the season. MacKinnon's odds were as long as +1,600 last week but his 15-game point streak has done wonders. If he can keep this up, MacKinnon may be in the Top 3 come the end of January.
12/12/2023: Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers are on a heater, shortening 97's odds to as low as +280. McDavid turned his slow start around lightning quick and oddsmakers have respected that. Speaking of Lightning, Nikita Kucherov's odds have bumped to No. 2 on the odds board (+400) with the winger having a hefty 7-point lead for top scorer. Outside of those two, not much else has changed other than Nathan MacKinnon returning to the Top 10.
12/5/2023: David Pastrnak's time atop the MVP odds board was short lived as Connor McDavid is back on top across the market. Pasta isn't too far behind however as fell into the No. 2 spot. Jack Hughes still rounds out the Top 3 (+450) but familiar names such as Cale Makar (+1,800) and Leon Draisaitl have played their way back into the Top 10.
11/28/2023: DraftKings held on as long as they could, but David Pastrnak is now favored over the Oilers' superstar at +400. However, No. 97 still holds top honors at books like FanDuel and SIA (+400). Another name to look out for that has shot up the odds board is Nikita Kucherov (+1,100) who leads the league with 36 points in 21 games. Keep an eye on McDavid's odds as he's registered nine points over the last two games and could be on the verge of another one of his signature runs.
11/21/2023: Connor McDavid is heading to end November on top of the MVP odds board, but Jack Hughes is locked into second place after registering two points upon his return from injury. Meanwhile, Auston Matthews fell to fourth place after going goalless for four straight. Replacing him in the Top 3 is none other than David Pastrnak who leads the NHL-best Bruins in points.
11/14/2023: Don't look now but the Edmonton Oilers have won two games in a row, holding Connor McDavid in the stop spot for now. Auston Matthews is still lurking around the corner, but the Oilers' star is still the placeholder. Meanwhile, Jack Hughes still rounds out the Top 3.
11/7/2023: Just like in recent weeks, Connor McDavid's odds continue to grow longer as his opponent's odds grow shorter — this time around it's Auston Matthews who now sits in second place. AM34 has potted five goals in his last two outings and he has his team in a much better position than the Oilers. Jack Hughes fell to third place after sustaining an upper-body injury that will keep him out for at least a week.
10/31/2023: The gap keeps getting thinner and thinner. What once looked like McDavid's award to lose has now heated up, with Jack Highes' odds continuing to shorten throughout the market. the Devils' superstar is now as short as +300 as he leads the league in points with 18 in only eight games. McDavid is still favored, but it may no longer be a matter of if but when he gets surpassed.
10/24/2023: We haven't even reached November yet and heavy movement has already been seen at the top of the odds board. Aslow start for the Oilers and a short-term injury to McDavid have pushed his odds as long as +200. He's still the favorite, but the gap is starting to close as Jack Hughes burst into the Top 2. Hughes' 10 points in four games moved his odds from +1,400 to as short as +400. Meanwhile, AM34 is still hovering in the Top 3.
10/17/2023: Well things have gotten a little interesting, with Auston Matthews jumping to +650 at FanDuel. AM34 potted six goals in his first two games before putting up nothing against Chicago, but he couldn't have asked for a better start if he wants to catch Connor McDavid. The rest of the board has stayed mainly the same with McJesus still heavily favored, but time will tell how much Matthews can make the Oilers' captain sweat.
10/10/2023: Connor McDavid enters the regular season as the heavy favorite to win MVP across the board, with the Oilers' captain holding that position throughout the summer. Players like Auston Matthews and Nathan MacKinnon are far behind, sitting around toe +1,000 mark.

Understanding NHL MVP odds
Most sportsbooks will display odds in the American format as listed above. When the regular season is nearly finished and a consensus has emerged, you might see a player with a minus sign (-) ahead of his odds, like this:
- Connor McDavid -400
The (-) means that McDavid is the odds-on favorite, and a bettor would need to wager $400 to win $100. Other contenders in the MVP race might have plus (+) odds to win.
- Nathan MacKinnon +650
Here, a bettor stood to profit $650 for every $100 wagered.
If American odds aren't your thing, simply use a tool like our odds converter to switch the odds to decimal or fractional format. Most online sportsbooks also give you the option to change the odds format that you see.
