The Boston Bruins are coming off a loss, which is bad news for the reeling Florida Panthers tonight, as the Bruins are 9-0 SU following a loss this season.

The market is moving in favor of the visitors, as the Panthers have a lot of question marks in net and are coming off a 4-3 loss last night. With the track meets that the Panthers have been playing of late, could it be point night for the Bruins?

The Panthers have been relying on Alex Lyon in net for five straight games as Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight deal with injuries. It’s gone as expected with Lyon, who has a 4.07 GAA and a .877 save percentage in those games. All of that work has also come in a nine-day stretch so Lyon has been ridden hard of late.

Bobrovsky is out and Knight just returned from a conditioning stint and didn’t dress last night. He was playing some of his worst hockey before taking some time off and had a 4.38 GAA with a .854 SV% in the five games before he hit the shelf with an undisclosed injury that could have been a performance issue. 

The price we’re seeing on the Boston team total Over 3.5 (-114) is based on Knight playing, which makes this the longest price we’ll see. If Knight doesn’t suit up and the Bruins face *checks notes* Mack Gudza, this will shorten up significantly. 

Boston is coming off a loss vs. the red-hot Lightning and is 9-0 SU following a loss on the season. The Bs gone top-heavy with the lineup as Taylor Hall is on the first line and this No.3 power play will face a Florida team that takes the most penalties in hockey and has the No. 26 penalty kill.

The Bruins are a dangerous team and Florida is in panic mode with an awful situation in the crease. Florida's also 0-6 SU on the backend of a back-to-back across its last six games. 

My best bet: Bruins team total Over 3.5 (-114 at Pinnacle)

The Florida Panthers are at a critical part of their season. They’re currently not in a playoff spot and rank 22nd in point percentage — two spots below the Red Wings. They took the L last night vs. the Kings and have a lot of question marks in net.

Bobrovsky is on the shelf and Knight hasn’t played since early January and was awful before missing time. In the five games before the absence, the young goalie posted a 4.38 GAA with a .854 SV%. Now the Panthers have Lyon and Gudza on the roster. Lyon has played five games in nine days. 

It will likely be Knight today but that is not a given. Florida has allowed 22 goals over its last five games with Lyon in net. 

Now, we have the best team in hockey coming to face the Panthers on the back end of a back-to-back, and the market is starting to move towards tonight’s visitors.

Boston opened at -150 and has moved to -160 as of this morning. There's still room for this to shorten up as Boston is coming off just its sixth regulation loss of the season and is a perfect 9-0 SU following a loss this season. The Bruins played one of the hottest teams in Tampa on Thursday and lost a very competitive game that was tied going into the final frame. 

Boston has the advantage in net with either Jeremy Swayman or Linus Ullmark, on special teams — where it has the league’s best penalty kill and No.3 power play —, and at even strength. Boston’s plus-51 goal differential at even strength means this team is winning by more than a goal at 5-on-5 each game. That’s nuts.

Boston was recently -190 on the road vs. the Islanders and with Florida on the back-to-back, that’s where I think this line should be. Florida has been one of the most overvalued teams all season.

Bettors can drink the juice, take the Bruins in regulation (+100), or take the Bruins’ team total Over 3.5 at -114.

Bruins vs Panthers Over/Under analysis

The Panthers have played in six straight Over games, which were of the sweatless variety. Lyon has been a huge reason why, but this is still a Florida team that sits 20th in 5-on-5 goals allowed and has the No.26 penalty kill. This team is bleeding goals and with the netminder situation, is set up to get burned again tonight.

The Bruins have put Hall on the top line with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand making this an even more top-heavy team and if Florida can find the back of the net, Boston will have no issues answering at even strength and on the power play. 

No team in hockey takes and draws more penalties per game than the Panthers, so both power plays could get a workout. That would favor the Bruins more with how poor the Florida PK is, but the home side has 13 power-play goals over its last 10 games and can bury with the man advantage as well.

bet365 briefly opened this total at 6 and it immediately got smashed to the Over and currently sits at -125 to the Over 6.5. I’d prefer to take the Bruins’ team total Over 3.5 at -114 but my lean on the full-game total is Over 6.5.
