With the Eagles’ offense running a ton of plays in the postseason, there will be more tackle opportunities for Nick Bolton as the Chiefs' linebacker makes his way into our Super Bowl picks

Super Bowl odds for Bolton's total-tackle market is a lofty 10.5, but with the added plays, some injuries to the defense, and a role in stopping Hurts who has a 30% rush share, he could certainly finish with 15 or more tackles — as our Super Bowl player props outline.

Super Bowl 57 Nick Bolton tackles + assists pick

Pick made on February 03, 2023.

The Philadelphia Eagles run a ton of plays per game and even in their two blowout victories in the postseason, still managed to run 69 and 70 plays in two playoff games. Tampa Bay led the league in plays per game this season and only averaged 68.8.

The Eagles are snapping the ball quickly and are the fastest team in the first half as well as +/- six points, per Football Outsiders

All of these extra plays create plenty of tackling opportunities for the Kansas City Chiefs. With Willie Gay dealing with a shoulder injury, it will be weakside linebacker Nick Bolton tracking down ball carriers all game vs. an offense that is doing whatever it wants on the ground.

The Eagles also run a ton to the weak side which should put Bolton in an advantageous position to rack up tackles.

Only Jacksonville’s Foyesade Oluokun averaged more tackles per game than Bolton in 2022-23. The second-year Chief is a three-down backer that doesn’t come off the field and will also be in charge of keeping an eye on Jalen Hurts, which could lead to a few more tackles on scrambles.

Additionally, with Dallas Goedert getting plenty of targets since his return, plenty of the passes over the middle to the tight end could also help rack up double-digit tackles for Bolton. The 22-year-old has hit 10 total tackles in 10 of his 17 games and finished with less than nine total tackles in just five games on the season.

With Gay banged up and the Eagles running a lot of plays, this could be a big volume game for Bolton. Factoring in the extra work with Hurts, the Eagles’ success on the ground, and a heavily-targeted tight end mean more tackle opportunities than normal at the Super Bowl.
