Being the last team standing on the March Madness odds board is an accomplishment in and of itself, but the star who gets crowned the Most Outstanding Player award will have stood out among many "shining moments".

With UConn and Purdue remaining to cut down the nets in April, it's no surprise the stars of both teams as the top contenders for the accolade.

The Final Four round of March Madness has set the stage for Monday's National Championship Game — hopefully, your March Madness bracket is still somewhat intact — and we have you covered with the latest MOP odds updates as the Final Four odds continue to unfold.

2024 March Madness MVP favorites

Donovan Clingan (+185)

The UConn Huskies have been buoyed by Donovan Clingan's contributions this season, with the 7-foot-2 sophomore center wreaking havoc on both ends of the floor.

Clingan is coming off another amazing performance against the Illini, putting up 22 points and 10 boards while also recording three steals and five blocks on the other end of the floor.

He scored 19 points in 20 minutes in the Huskies' Round 1 blowout of Stetson, posted a 14/14/8 line against Northwestern, and while he was quiet in the Sweet 16 win over SDSU, he finished with 22 points and 10 boards against Illinois.

Then, he posted 18 points and five rebounds with four blocks in UConn's win over No. 4 Alabama in the Final Four. With the Huskies favored in the National Championship Game, Clingan is the man to beat.

Zach Edey (+210)

Spearheading a Purdue Boilermakers program seeking redemption from last year's premature Round 1 elimination, Zach Edey poses a matchup nightmare for defenses.

Standing at 7-foot-4, the offense runs through the Boilermakers center. Edey averages 24.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game while consistently putting opponents into significant foul trouble.

His tournament got off to a monster start, dropping 30 and 21 in a blowout win over Grambling State. His line wasn't as gaudy in Purdue's second game, but he put up 27 and 14 in a win over Gonzaga in the Sweet 16 before exploding for 40 and 16 against Tennessee.

In the Final Four, Edey posted 20 points and 12 rebounds on 9-for-14 shooting to lead the Boilermakers to victory over No. 11 NC State. If Purdue is to upset UConn in the title game, Edey will surely be the biggest reason why.

How is the March Madness MVP decided?

The honor of March Madness MVP is awarded by the Associated Press after the NCAA Tournament. Most often, the Most Outstanding Player comes from the NCAA championship team. There have been a dozen players named MVP that weren’t on championship teams.

History of the March Madness MVP

Not all Final Four MVPs go on to the pros, but they live on forever in NCAA Tournament glory — especially if you bet on their odds to win March Madness MVP. Tournament MVPs almost always come from the winning team. The last player to be named MVP whose team did not win was Hakeem Olajuwon for the Houston Cougars in 1983.

Most betting sites have offered odds on the tournament MVP for a few years now, but sportsbooks based in Nevada have only been allowed to book this March Madness prop since 2016.
