We are already a quarter of the way through the MLS regular season and the MLS odds are what you'd expect them to be.

Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are the favorites, with the defending champions Columbus Crew second choice on the betting board.

A couple of early season winners such as Vancouver FC have seen their odds shorten, while last year's runners-up LAFC have seen their odds lengthen following a not-so-good start to the season.

Favorites to win the MLS Cup

Favorite

Inter Miami FC Inter Miami (+250)

While the defensive issues were not solved vs. Sporting Kansas City, Inter Miami made a statement with an impressive 3-2 win.

Both Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez found the scoresheet and with the win, the Herons regained first place in the Eastern Conference albeit on goal difference and having played one more game than NYRB.

Nonetheless, given the talent Inter Miami has, scoring goals should be their strength, and notching multiple goals for just the second time in six matches is a positive sign.

Contender

Columbus Crew SC Columbus Crew (+1,000)

Similar to Inter Miami, the reigning MLS Cup champions have had a bit of a rough go of late, picking up just four points over their last four MLS games.

However, unlike Inter Miami the offense has dried up in a big way. The Crew have netted just three goals over their last four league games.

While it's early and the table is still congested, the Crew remain among the favorites to defend their crown later this year.

Darkhorse

FC Cincinnati FC Cincinnati (+1,200)

Another team that's gotten off to a rather sluggish start is FC Cincinnati.

The Garys sit fifth in the East on 12 points but are just three points back of Inter Miami with a game in hand.

One point in three games will make you wonder why they got slotted into this category, but as we saw last year, they are an elite defensive team and have found ways to score timely goals.

Like Columbus, it's early and I expect some positive regression from this team moving forward.

What is the format for the MLS Cup Playoffs?

The Top 7 teams in each conference make the MLS Cup playoffs, with the top seed in each receiving a bye to the conference semifinals. The other six teams in each conference square off in single-elimination games, with the higher seed playing host. In total, there are four rounds in the MLS Cup playoffs, with every game single-elimination.

When are the MLS Cup Playoffs?

The MLS Cup playoffs will get underway after the regular season ends on Oct. 21, 2024.

How to bet on soccer futures odds

MLS futures odds are constantly adjusted throughout the offseason due to player transfers and injuries. Once the season begins, title odds will change as teams win and lose games and as more players get hurt or suspended. Sportsbooks will also adjust MLS odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.

MLS futures odds will usually look like this:

  • Seattle Sounders +500

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $500 if Seattle wins the MLS Cup. If it's close to the end of the competition, or a club has been particularly dominant, you might see them with a minus sign (-) ahead of their odds.

  • LAFC -115

This means that you would need to bet $115 to win just $100 on an LAFC MLS Cup win.

Above we have posted the American odds for MLS. However, these are easy to convert to decimal odds or fractional odds with our odds converter tool.
