Favorites to win the MLS Cup

LAFC (+380)

LAFC have been one of the league's premier franchises since joining the league. The 2022 season is a new, second chapter for them in MLS, however, as the only coach in franchise history, Bob Bradley, has moved on to Toronto FC.

Steve Cherundolo's tenure as manager has gotten off to a bright start, with LAFC atop the league with a 7-2-1 record through 10 games.

New York City FC (+650)

The new year hasn't begun well for the defending MLS champions, but they've picked up three victories in four games while scoring 14 goals in that span. NYCFC currently sit at 4-2-3 and hold the sixth spot in the East.

New York Red Bulls (+800)

The Red Bulls have gotten off to an impressive start on the season, currently sitting at 5-3-2 through 10 contests.

New York is currently ranked No. 2 in the Eastern Conference.

What is the format for the MLS Cup Playoffs?

In 2021, the Top 7 teams in each conference made the MLS Cup playoffs, with the top seed in each receiving a bye to the conference semifinals. The other six teams in each conference squared off in single-elimination games, with the higher seed playing host. In total, there were four rounds in the MLS Cup playoffs, with every game single-elimination.

When is the MLS Cup Playoffs?

The MLS Cup playoffs will get underway in mid-October and run for three consecutive weeks until the MLS Cup final on Saturday, November 5, ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

How to bet on soccer futures odds

MLS futures odds are constantly adjusted throughout the offseason due to player transfers and injuries. Once the season begins, title odds will change as teams win and lose games and as more players get hurt or suspended. Sportsbooks will also adjust MLS odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.

MLS futures odds will usually look like this:

  • Seattle Sounders +500

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $500 if Seattle wins the MLS Cup. If it's close to the end of the competition, or a club has been particularly dominant, you might see them with a minus sign (-) ahead of their odds.

  • LAFC -115

This means that you would need to bet $115 to win just $100 on an LAFC MLS Cup win.
