Seamus Power withstood a pair of surging challengers on Sunday to emerge victorious at the Bermuda Championship. While that was a relatively thin field in terms of star power, this weekend features a slightly different beast.
The World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba takes place at El Camaleon Golf Club at Playa del Carmen. It was the first PGA Tour event held in Mexico this century when it debuted in 2007.

Notes on the Field
Autumn fields on the PGA Tour can often leave something to be desired, but not this one. Heavy hitters like Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Tony Finau, and Collin Morikawa litter the favorites section while former champions like Jason Day and Justin Rose are also looking for a little glory.
Seamus Power is back as well after claiming victory at the Bermuda over the weekend. This time of year, the FedExCup Standings are constantly in flux, so they can't really be relied on as an indicator of strong overall statistical performance. Case in point: Power jumped a full 99 spots by winning and this week's champion will likely do something similar.
Favorites to win the 2022 World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba
Scottie Scheffler (+950)
With Rory McIlroy not entered in the field, Scheffler is the top-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Ranking making the trip to Mexico this weekend. The World No. 2 finished T45 at The CJ Cup at South Carolina's Congaree Golf Club two weeks ago, marking his sole PGA Tour event since last season concluded.
Not only did Scheffler have a phenomenal 2021-22 season, but he finished fourth at this tournament last November, kicking off his fantastic run to the top of the golf rankings. In his only other entry, Scheffler finished T18 in the 2019 edition of the Mayakoba Classic.
Viktor Hovland (+1,100)
It's somewhat surprising that Hovland isn't the overall betting favorite here considering he's won this tournament in back-to-back years. He set the course's 72-hole record by shooting -23 (261) and winning by four strokes over Carlos Ortiz last year. He very nearly matched the 18-hole record by shooting 62 in the third round, all but sealing his championship in the process.
Hovland has been in fine form to start the fall season, finishing T5 at the ZOZO Championship and T21 at the CJ Cup. He's currently ranked 11th in the OWGR.
Tony Finau and Collin Morikawa (+1,800)
Finau had a strong finish to the 2021-22 campaign with back-to-back wins in late July before a ninth-place finish at the TOUR Championship at the end of August. He makes his return on Thursday at a course that wasn't entirely kind to him last year. Finau finished T45 after shooting back-to-back 70s over the weekend. That said, he finished T8 in 2020, missed the cut in 2019, and finished T16 in 2018. So, this tournament has been something of a yo-yo act for the 33-year-old.
Morikawa is still looking for his groove. He started last year very strongly, finishing within the Top 10 in six of his first eight tournaments (concluding with a fifth-place finish at the Masters. After that, he only had two Top-20 finishes in the next 11 events and hasn't cracked the Top 25 in either of his first two tournaments of the fall.

Brendon Todd (+4,500)
The last golfer to win this tournament not named Viktor Hovland, Todd won by one stroke over Adam Long, Carlos Ortiz, and Vaughn Taylor in 2019. The 37-year-old has performed rather well this fall, too. He posted a T9 at the Fortinet Championship in early September and a T7 at the CJ Cup two weeks ago. And his success at this event isn't entirely limited to 2019. He finished T11 a year ago and T8 in 2020.
Davis Riley (+8,000)
The 25-year-old Riley has been busy this fall even if the results haven't exactly been up to snuff. Through four tournaments, he's got a T19 finish, two more outside the top 50 and a missed cut. He also missed the cut at this event a year ago but eventually found a groove in late spring and early summer. He nearly won his first PGA Tour title last year, losing to Sam Burns in a playoff at the Valspar. He's a longshot, but there is shine to his game.
