Posting this here as well as WC forum since there is way more traffic here
Just starting to go over groups and get a rough-feel for the group stage
Initial look is the a b c d side of the draw is a little weaker in the top end teams. Other side of the draw slightly tougher imo
Looking like the Dutch, the French and Brazil should take care of their groups. And Belgium as well as Croatia should have harder time going on a run with an aging core. Although Belgium core is aging as well if I'm not mistaken.
Don't follow soccer as much as most of the cappers on here so any input is appreciated

IMO, its as wide open as it gets this year. I have futures on Portugal and the Dutch as I just can't see the usual players taking this one down ( France, Germany, Italy ( out ), Spain ) European squads have looked pretty weak in qualies so I could see a team from SA actually taking it this year.

I thought France was relatively young last WC? Or was that just Mbappe?
Always thought Argentina was a little overrated due to messi . Plus they seem to underperform in big tournys (messi too). And their defence as a team overall always seemed to lack effort/be a weak part of their game
Portugal plays a great team game but rely on Ronaldo to finish. I usually like what they do defensively
Germany and Spain being in the same group definitely narrows their chances. One of them gets Belgium right off the hop if they advance to knockout

Agree with Bigd sentiment Feels very wide open this year. I am always partial to the Dutch, but man, talk about underperformers. This year with no pressure might help them. I am going to toss a little on them in futures shortly. Need to look at rest of groups shortly.

Well they got drawn into the weakest group on paper imo so they should be able to get to the knockout stage fairly easily...and group B doesn't have a power house team in it either

Good as the Dutch need to finally perform. My book has them +1100 along with Portugal at same. I need to sit down and look further into the WC and willrevwrt with my thoughts.
Pressure seems to be off Messi as everyone just assumes Argentina will fold. That might be the best for them. Messi was going to quit last WC but coming back might play well to his favor.
Mexico plays great D but I don't think they can score enough.

Brazil is the clear favorite this year. Euro powerhouses are weak, France, Germany, Spain are struggling. Outside chance of Portugal. Maybe Argentina but they tend to underperform at world cups ever since Maradonna.
