Stampeders vs Roughriders predictions

The Stamps finished the regular season by going 6-1 SU and ATS in their final seven games. That strong finish allowed them to make the playoffs after an ugly start to the year, with quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell banged up and lots of new faces trying to gel.

The Riders ended their season with a loss to the Ti-Cats but don't put much stock in that, since they sat multiple key starters with home-field advantage in this game already locked up. Prior to that contest, they had won four games in a row and went 2-2 ATS over that span.

These teams faced off against each other three times within the span of 22 days in October. The Stamps won the first two games by scores of 23-17 at home and 22-19 on the road before Riders coach Craig Dickenson finally beat little brother Dave in Calgary in Week 12.

All of those showdowns were extremely close and oddsmakers are expecting another tight battle. It's tough to find an angle in this one but Calgary has been red-hot on defense and finding balance on offense, with running back Ka'Deem Carey opening things up for Mitchell and the passing game. The Riders' offense has had a tough time coming up with big plays and their offensive line has been shaky all year.

The Stampeders do a great job of travelling, going 4-0 ATS in their last four games on the road and going 5-1 SU and ATS in their previous six contests in Regina. That's enough to have us leaning towards the Stamps in this one.

All three meetings between these teams went below the total this year and while the Over/Under this time is set at just 41.5 (with some books setting that number as high as 43.5) we're still leaning toward the Under.

The Stampeders' stop-unit has been absolutely dominant over the last two months, allowing just 322.4 yards and 17 points per game over their last eight contests.

Meanwhile, Saskatchewan's front seven has been outstanding, ranking second in the CFL with 47 sacks and holding opponents to just 82.5 rushing yards per game on 4.4 yards per carry.

Weather is another factor to consider with temperatures expected to hover near freezing with winds above 15 miles per hour at frigid Mosaic Stadium in Regina. Keep in mind that the Under is 6-2 in Calgary's last eight games in November while going 28-11 in Saskatchewan's previous 39 contests this month.
