The PGA Tour's final stop prior to the third of four major championships comes in the form of the RBC Canadian Open, returning to the calendar for the first time since 2019.

With this being the last competitive opportunity for guys to get their games in shape prior to the U.S. Open, many of the top dogs are out to play this week, including World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, defending 2019 champion Rory McIlroy, and the Tour's most recent major winner Justin Thomas.

Favorites to win the 2022 RBC Canadian Open

Scottie Scheffler (+850)

After surprisingly missing the cut at Southern Hills, Scheffler got back in the saddle with a runner-up finish at the Charles Schwab, losing in a playoff to Sam Burns (+1,600 this week).

He's still first in the Official World Golf Ranking, first on the PGA Tour money list, and has built himself a comfortable lead atop the FedEx Cup points list.

While the wins may have stopped piling up for the World No. 1, his form hasn't gone anywhere. As such, he enters the week as a +850 solo betting favorite.

Justin Thomas (+900)

After his historic comeback victory at the Southern Hills PGA Championship, one could argue Justin Thomas could be primed to reel off some wins during the second half of the season.

Scheffler notwithstanding, JT has probably been the best, most consistent golfer on the planet, with zero (!) missed cuts between the 2021 PGA Championship and his win at Southern Hills a few weeks ago.

He predictably missed the cut at the Charles Schwab the week following his win at Southern Hills, but should be ready to get back into gear with another major just a week away.

Rory McIlroy (+1,000)

Rory McIlroy followed up his dramatic runner-up finish at Augusta National with finishes of solo-fifth (Wells Fargo), solo-eighth (PGA Championship), and T18 last week at the Memorial.

His form is strong — certainly much better than it was this time last year — but his inability to put four great rounds together has held him back from another win in 2022.

Either way, he's the defending champion this week, having won this event when it was last played in 2019, and is the third and final guy available with 10/1 odds or better. Could this be the week he puts it all together?

Notable longshots for the 2022 RBC Canadian Open

Harold Varner III (+4,200)

Harold Varner III is playing the best golf of his career right now and was very much in contention for his first PGA Tour win at the Charles Schwab Challenge before a catastrophic final-round 78 booted him all the way down to T27.

He's made seven straight cuts including a T6 at the PLAYERS and T3 at Harbour Town — and is among the more fun guys to root for on Tour.

Chris Kirk (+5,000)

Chris Kirk, although not a household name on Tour, continues to play well and post strong results.

Over his last 10 starts, he has two Top-5 finishes among five Top 20s. That includes a T5 at Bay Hill and more recently, a T5 finish at Southern Hills (the best major championship finish of his career). He's been one of the more consistent golfers of late in this 50/1 odds range.
